How admission season actually works in Bangalore
Bangalore has no state CET gate for the private universities families actually chase for BBA and MBA. The big names are deemed or private universities, and each runs its own front door.
Jain (Deemed-to-be University) admits through JET, its own entrance test, applied for directly on jainuniversity.ac.in. For the MBA, the university states that candidates with CAT, GMAT, NMAT, CMAT, XAT or MAT scores skip the written test and move straight to essay writing, presentation and personal interview. There is no published route around JET.
Alliance University runs its published selection process: for BBA (Hons) that is AUSAT, AUMAT and a personal interview, weighed alongside your scholastic and extracurricular record. The process is the whole gate.
Presidency University is the honest contrast. Its own admissions FAQ openly publishes a management quota, based on the Presidency Aptitude Test and an interview conducted by the respective schools, with the seat offered on a merit basis. That is what a real management quota looks like: printed by the college, run through the college’s own test, paid at the college’s fee. Whether any quota is legitimate is a question of state law and the college’s own publications, and we keep a plain-language guide to exactly that.
Underneath all of it sits the Karnataka Prohibition of Capitation Fee Act, 1984: any payment beyond the sanctioned fee is capitation, and it is a criminal offence, not a negotiation.
What fees look like here
We quote no fee on this page, because fees change and the only figure that counts is the one on the college’s own website or in its written offer. Christ’s admission pages state that the university collects no capitation or donation beyond the fee mentioned on its website. Kristu Jayanti’s admission guidelines say the same about fees beyond those on the university site. Where a college does not publish course fees openly, as on Jain’s programme pages, get the figure in writing from the admissions office, never from a portal or an agent.

Colleges in Bangalore where "direct admission" claims are false
Agents sell seats at these institutions anyway. Here is the official position, so you can spot the lie early:
- Christ University: Christ admits every Indian student through its own published process of entrance test, skill assessment, micro presentation and personal interview, and its admission pages state that the university collects no capitation or donation beyond the fees on its website. - Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University): Its official admission guidelines state that admission is direct and based on merit, that the institution has appointed no middlemen or agents, and that applications routed through agents will be cancelled.
Questions families in Bangalore ask us
- Is management quota legal in Bangalore?
- Only where the college itself publishes it, and even then admission must stay merit-based and transparent. Presidency University, for example, states in its own admissions FAQ that its management quota runs on the Presidency Aptitude Test and an interview, with seats offered on merit. What is always illegal is capitation, meaning any payment beyond the sanctioned fee, under Karnataka's Prohibition of Capitation Fee Act, 1984. And several big Bangalore names, including Christ and Kristu Jayanti, state officially that admission runs only through their own merit process, so a quota sold in their name does not exist.
- What do you charge?
