The short answer
As of September 2026, SIBM Bengaluru admits its two-year MBA through SNAP alone on a printed 50/10/40 merit formula, with 240 seats for Batch 2027-29 and an academic fee of Rs 10,70,000 a year. Its official fee page also prints the rules for a small Discretionary Quota at double the open-category fee — the clearest documented institute-level route we have mapped at a Symbiosis school.
Selection process
- Hold a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST); final-year students may apply, and foreign qualifications need an Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate.
- Register for SNAP 2026 (Rs 2,550 per test) and separately register for the SIBM-B MBA programme (Rs 1,000); programme registration opened 21 August 2026 and closes 25 November 2026, with institute registration until 12 December 2026.
- Sit SNAP on one of the three December dates — 13, 19 or 26 December 2026; the result is scheduled for 12 January 2027.
- Shortlisted candidates attend the Group Exercise and Personal Interaction at the institute.
- The final merit list is computed on the printed formula: SNAP score (out of 60) scaled to 50 marks, Group Exercise 10 marks, Personal Interaction 40 marks — total 100.

| MBA (Executive) academic fee | Rs 3,00,000 per annum plus a refundable institute deposit of Rs 10,000; four instalments of Rs 1,60,000 / 1,50,000 / 1,50,000 / 1,50,000 across the two years | Batch 2026-2028, as published | SIBM Bengaluru official MBA (Executive) page ↗ checked 5 Sept 2026 |
Is there a management quota here?
Yes — and it is printed on the institute's own fee page, which is rare enough to be worth reading line by line. SIBM Bengaluru's official MBA fee structure states that a few seats are reserved as Discretionary Quota Seats, that only students with a reasonable academic record and good entrance test scores are considered for them, and that the fee is double the open-category academic fee as approved by the Fee Structure Committee, paid to the institute by online transfer or demand draft — with a no-donation note in the same footnote. The same website carries Symbiosis University's caution notice: admissions are strictly on merit, the university charges no capitation fee, it has authorised no agent or consultant, and anyone who approaches through an agent can be permanently debarred. Read together, the answer is precise: a small, published, institute-run discretionary route with printed pricing exists, and any outsider claiming to sell a Symbiosis seat is contradicting the university in writing.
Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bengaluru is the SNAP-only door in a city full of ten-exam menus — and, as of this verification pass, the site of the clearest published institute-level admission route we have mapped anywhere: its own fee page prints the rules, the price basis and the payment channel for a small set of Discretionary Quota Seats, in black and white, next to a university notice that no agent is authorised and no capitation fee is charged.
What should an applicant plan for?
One test runs this admissions cycle: SNAP. The institute prints the whole machine on its MBA page — 240 seats for Batch 2027-29, a 50% graduation bar (45% for SC/ST), registration from 21 August to 25 November 2026, the three December test dates, and the merit formula itself: SNAP scaled to 50, Group Exercise 10, Personal Interaction 40. There is no CAT, XAT, CMAT or MAT door here, and there is no published cut-off percentile; half your final score is built in the GE-PI rooms after the test.
The money is equally legible. Academic fees are Rs 10,70,000 a year — about Rs 21.4 lakh across the degree — with hostel and mess adding roughly Rs 3 lakh a year on the Bengaluru campus, and the instalment dates printed to the day. The fee page’s own footnote then answers the question agents get paid to muddy: a few Discretionary Quota Seats exist, they go only to students with a reasonable academic record and good entrance scores, and they cost double the open-category academic fee as approved by the Fee Structure Committee, paid to the institute by online transfer or demand draft. Published by the institute, priced by a committee, paid to the university — that is what a documented institute-level route looks like, and anything offered to you on different terms is not it.
One honest gap: SIBM-B’s placements page returned a not-found error when we checked on 5 September 2026, so this profile carries no salary table. Ask the institute directly for its current placement report, and read whatever you receive with the five checks in our placement-report guide. The Bangalore guide keeps SIBM-B beside the city’s other verified doors.

Questions, answered
- Does SIBM Bengaluru accept CAT, XAT, CMAT or MAT for its MBA?
- No. The official programme page names one test: SNAP. Admission to the MBA is the SNAP score plus the Group Exercise and Personal Interaction, weighted 50, 10 and 40 out of 100. If you are writing only CAT, SIBM-B is not on your list — its Pune sibling works the same SNAP-only way.
- What is the total cost of the SIBM Bengaluru MBA?
- Per the official fee page opened on 5 September 2026: academic fees of Rs 10,70,000 a year (about Rs 21.4 lakh over two years) plus a Rs 20,000 refundable deposit, with hostel at Rs 1,79,700 and mess at Rs 1,19,600 per annum if you stay on campus. A residential student should budget roughly Rs 27.5 lakh before personal expenses and the page's own caveat that hostel and mess fees can rise up to 15% a year.
- Is there really a management or discretionary quota at SIBM Bengaluru?
- The institute's own fee page says a few seats are reserved as Discretionary Quota Seats, considered only for students with a reasonable academic record and good entrance test scores, at double the open-category academic fee approved by the Fee Structure Committee and paid to the institute directly. So the honest answer is: a small, published, institute-run discretionary route exists — with rules and pricing in print — while the university simultaneously states in writing that no agent is authorised and no capitation fee is charged. If a consultant quotes you a different figure or asks for cash, that is not the route the page describes.
- What SNAP score do I need for SIBM Bengaluru?
- The institute does not publish a cut-off percentile on the programme page; it publishes the selection formula instead — SNAP scaled to 50, Group Exercise 10, Personal Interaction 40. Your SNAP performance matters, but half the final merit list is built after the test, in the GE-PI rooms.
- How is the MBA (Executive) different from the regular MBA at SIBM-B?
- The Executive MBA is a two-year programme for people already working: it asks for 50% at graduation plus at least one year of full-time work experience, admits just 30 students, selects through a Personal Interaction without SNAP, and costs Rs 3,00,000 a year — about a seventh of the regular MBA's annual academic fee. It suits a working professional in Bengaluru who wants the Symbiosis degree without leaving a job.
