The short answer

As of August 2026, XIM University's flagship MBA-BM admits through XAT, CAT, GMAT or its own XGMT, shortlisting on institute cut-offs for a Writing Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The published 2026 fee totals about Rs 25.8 lakh before housing; the 2026-28 application window closed on 20 January 2026.

Selection process

  1. Take one of the four accepted tests: XAT (4 January 2026 for the 2026-28 cycle), CAT (30 November 2025), GMAT taken in 2024 or 2025, or XGMT — the XIM General Management Test conducted by XIM University itself (25 January 2026 for the same cycle). XAT/CAT/GMAT registration is the applicant's own responsibility and a prerequisite if not opting for XGMT.
  2. Apply separately to XIM University through its own online application form and application fee — registering for the entrance test does not count as applying. For the 2026-28 cycle the application deadline was 20 January 2026; the official page now shows the form closed and the next window 'opening soon'.
  3. The institute sets its own section-wise and total cut-off marks and shortlists candidates for the Writing Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview, held across Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai when conducted offline.
  4. Final selection weighs the entrance performance together with WAT, GD and PI, factoring in past academic record and relevant work experience; selected candidates were informed by mail in April 2026, and the programme began in the third week of June 2026.

Is there a management quota here?

No. The official admission page publishes exactly one door into the MBA-BM: an accepted entrance score (XAT, CAT, GMAT or the university's own XGMT), an institute cut-off shortlist, then WAT, GD and PI with academics and work experience factored in. No management quota, NRI seat, institute-level category or donation route appears anywhere in the published admission documents, and the fee structure is public to the rupee. Anyone offering an XIMB seat against a 'package' is describing something the university's own pages do not contain.

XIM University — the Jesuit institution whose Xavier Institute of Management has run Bhubaneswar’s best-known MBA since 1987 — is the city’s merit ceiling. The two-year residential MBA – Business Management (MBA-BM) is the flagship: one published route in, a 55% graduation bar that is stricter than most, and a fee sheet printed to the rupee on the university’s own site.

How does the selection actually run?

Four tests open the door: XAT, CAT, GMAT or XGMT — the university’s own XIM General Management Test for candidates who sat none of the national ones. For the 2026-28 cycle, XAT ran on 4 January 2026, CAT on 30 November 2025 and XGMT on 25 January 2026, and the university’s own application form (a separate step from test registration) closed on 20 January 2026. The institute then sets its own section-wise and total cut-offs and shortlists for a Writing Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview held across up to seven cities. The final composite weighs the entrance score, the WAT-GD-PI performance, past academics and relevant work experience; offers went out in April 2026 and the batch began in the third week of June.

Eligibility is a three-year bachelor’s degree at 55% aggregate — five points above the bar most of the city uses — with final-year candidates admitted provisionally against a 15 June 2026 completion deadline.

What does it cost, and what does it return?

The published 2026 master’s fee structure totals about Rs 25.8 lakh for the MBA-BM: Rs 11,50,000 course fee per year, a Rs 1,00,000 development fund, course materials at Rs 40,000 a year, IT expenses at Rs 20,000 a year, plus alumni and career-advisory charges, with a Rs 20,000 refundable deposit and residential expenses on top. Every figure is marked indicative until the offer letter confirms it.

The return, per the official ‘Xuberance 2025’ infographic on the institute’s placement page: 372 students placed through 101 recruiters (49 of them new), a highest CTC of Rs 32.8 lakh, an average of Rs 18.25 lakh and a median of Rs 17.82 lakh — with BFSI, consulting and IT/ITES absorbing 71% of the batch between them.

Where does XIM University fit in a Bhubaneswar shortlist?

At the top. XIMB is the option for candidates who can clear a serious national test and want the city’s deepest recruiter bench — against IMI Bhubaneswar it asks a higher graduation bar (55% vs 50%) and a higher fee, and returns a higher published average. Aspirants who need a wider exam menu or a lower total spend should look at KSOM and Birla Global University, all mapped with sourced fees in our Bhubaneswar city guide.

How Udaan helps with XIM University

Mostly by sequencing. If your XAT/CAT percentile is in range, we help you time the university’s own application (separate from the test, and easy to miss), prepare for the WAT-GD-PI that the composite actually decides, and hold a parallel shortlist below the ceiling so a near-miss costs nothing. If the 55% bar or the fee rules it out, we say so on the first call and route you to the published percentile-band map instead. There is no back door to sell you — the university’s own pages are the whole route.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Which entrance exams does XIM University accept for the MBA-BM?
Four: XAT, CAT, GMAT (taken in 2024 or 2025 for the 2026-28 cycle) or XGMT, the XIM General Management Test the university conducts itself. For the 2026-28 cycle XAT sat on 4 January 2026, CAT on 30 November 2025 and XGMT on 25 January 2026. Whatever test you choose, you must also fill XIM University's own online application form separately.
What is the XIM University MBA-BM fee?
The official 2026 master's fee structure puts the MBA-BM course fee at Rs 11,50,000 per year for two years, plus a Rs 1,00,000 development fund, Rs 40,000 a year course materials, Rs 20,000 a year IT expenses, a Rs 10,000 alumni fee and Rs 50,000 career advisory services — about Rs 25.8 lakh in all, plus a Rs 20,000 refundable deposit, with residential expenses on top. The page marks every figure indicative until the offer letter confirms it (accessed 26 August 2026).
Is there a management quota at XIM University?
No quota of any kind is published. The admission documents describe one merit route — accepted test, cut-off shortlist, WAT, GD and PI — and the fee structure is public. There is no management, NRI, institute-level or donation seat anywhere in the official pages for the MBA-BM, so an agent quoting one is contradicting the university's own published process.
What is XGMT and should I take it?
XGMT is XIM University's own General Management Test — the fallback door for applicants who skipped XAT, CAT and GMAT. For the 2026-28 cycle it was held on 25 January 2026. It keeps the application inside one institution's control, but it buys entry only to XIM University, where a CAT or XAT score is also usable elsewhere — so the sensible move is a national test first, XGMT as insurance.
What were XIM University's latest placement figures?
From the official 'Xuberance 2025' infographic linked on the institute's placement page: 372 students, 101 recruiters (49 new), highest CTC Rs 32.8 lakh, average Rs 18.25 lakh and median Rs 17.82 lakh, with the top 10% averaging Rs 25.81 lakh. BFSI took 25% of the batch, consulting 24% and IT/ITES 22%. The same page links student-wise final placement lists for the last three years.
Can final-year students apply to the XIM University MBA-BM?
Yes, provided they complete every requirement of the degree by 15 June 2026 (for the 2026-28 cycle). Offers to such candidates are provisional and stand automatically cancelled if the degree is not completed by that date.
