MBA Management Quota in Bangalore (2026): Colleges, Verified Fees, and the PGCET Truth
Bangalore has no citywide “management quota fee” for MBA, and most of the numbers ranking on Google for this search are invented. The city splits into two honest doors: KEA’s PGCET seats plus a KMAT-run management share in private affiliated colleges, and the big deemed universities (Christ, Jain, Alliance, PES) that fill every seat through their own published admissions.
Every page currently ranking for this keyword is an agent site, and their fee tables contradict the colleges’ own documents. This guide puts those claims against what the official pages said when we checked them this week. For how the quota system works nationally, start with our full guide to MBA admission through management quota.
The agent pitch vs the official record
| College | The agent pitch | Verified position (July 2026) | Official source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Christ University | ”Quota seats at Rs 2.5 to 3.5 lakh per year, 18 to 30 MQ seats” | Published fee: Rs 5,70,000 per year (Karnataka), Rs 5,80,000 (other states), Rs 6,70,000 (NRI). Own selection process. “The University does not collect any type of Capitation / Donation” | christuniversity.in course page; Lavasa admission page |
| Jain (CMS Business School) | “MQ fee Rs 5.15 lakh” or “Rs 7 to 11 lakh”, depending on the site | Fee not published online; the university directs you to its admissions office. Selection through JET stages, with exam-score exemptions | jainuniversity.ac.in MBA admission page |
| Alliance University | ”Direct admission package Rs 10 to 15 lakh” | One published fee: Rs 15,00,000 total for the July 2026-28 batch, in an official PDF with installment due dates | alliance.edu.in fee PDF |
| PES University | Rarely named, fees invented when it is | Published PESU merit fee: Rs 7,50,000 per annum (2026-27). Management/NRI categories exist, priced only by the Office of Admissions | pes.edu/fee and admissions note |
| IIM Bangalore | ”a paid IIM-B quota seat” | CAT only. No management, NRI or paid route of any kind | iimb.ac.in PGP admissions page |
| NMIMS Bangalore | ”Rs 11 to 13 lakh plus donation" | "There is NO ‘Management Quota’ at NMIMS for any Program. If you receive any E-Mail / SMS related to it, consider it as Fraudulent” | nmims.edu/result |
Notice the pattern: where a real fee exists, the agents understate it to get you on WhatsApp. Where no quota exists, they invent one.
Two doors, and PGCET is only one of them
Door one: KEA PGCET. The Karnataka Examinations Authority conducts PGCET for postgraduate professional courses including MBA, and counsels the government-share seats in university-affiliated colleges. The 2026 cycle is well past registration, so this door has a calendar, not a negotiation. The KEA portal (cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/pgcet2026) is the only source that counts for dates; it was intermittently unreachable during our checks, so confirm the current stage there directly. Counselling follows results (expected in the second half of 2026).
Door two: the institutional route. This itself splits in two, and agents blur the line deliberately.
- KMAT colleges. The Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA) runs KMAT for admission to the management share of seats in AICTE-approved, university-affiliated self-financing colleges. Its site lists 189 member institutions for MBA, and candidates from anywhere in India can appear. This is the closest thing Karnataka has to an official “management quota exam”, and it costs a registration fee, not lakhs. KMAT 2026 registration closes on 15 July 2026.
- Deemed and private universities. Christ, Jain, Alliance and PES sit outside both PGCET counselling and the KMAT quota system. They fill every seat through their own published processes, so there is no separate quota inventory for anyone to sell.
So when an agent offers “management quota in Christ”, the claim fails twice: Christ is not a KMAT member college, and Christ’s own admission page rules out capitation. We unpack that specific pitch in our Christ University management quota guide.
College by college: what the official pages actually say
Christ University. The MBA fee is published per year: Rs 5,70,000 for Karnataka students, Rs 5,80,000 for other Indian states, Rs 6,70,000 for NRIs, plus a Rs 8,000 non-refundable registration fee. A score in MAT, CAT, CMAT, XAT, ATMA, GMAT or GRE is only an eligibility ticket; selection runs on the university’s own assessment and interview. The 2026 windows are closed (the Lavasa campus deadline was 25 January 2026); the 2027 cycle should open around December 2026 (expected).
Jain (Deemed-to-be University). CMS Business School publishes its process but not its fee: the admission page says to contact the admissions office for fee information. Selection is through JET (written test, essay, presentation, personal interview), and a CAT score of 50 percentile, MAT 550, NMAT 160 or equivalent exempts you from the written test. Treat any Jain fee figure on an agent site as unverified until the admissions office puts it in writing.
Alliance University. The most transparent of the lot: an official PDF fixes the July 2026-28 MBA at Rs 15,00,000 total, with a Rs 50,000 registration component and three installments due on fixed dates (the second on 15 October 2026, the third on 15 April 2027). A fee that is public down to the due date leaves an agent nothing to “arrange”.
PES University. The published MBA fee for 2026-27 is the PESU merit fee of Rs 7,50,000 per annum plus Rs 10,000 one-time charges. PES’s own admissions note acknowledges higher-fee, management, NRI and sponsored seat categories and says to contact the Office of Admissions for them. That is the honest version of a management seat: the university’s category, the university’s price, on the university’s paper.
The Ramaiah names. At least two B-schools carry the Ramaiah brand, and agent tables quote fees for “MS Ramaiah” without saying which institution they mean. We could not reach a working official fee page for M S Ramaiah Institute of Management at the time of checking, so we publish no figure. Ask the institute itself, and treat any number that does not appear on its own site as unverified.
The one-question scam test: “IIM Bangalore quota”
IIM Bangalore’s admissions page is unambiguous: domestic admissions are based on applications received through CAT, and final selection uses CAT performance, scholastic achievement, work experience, the Writing Ability Test and interview. Nothing else. An agent network currently ranking for this keyword lists IIM-B in its “management quota colleges” table, then quietly marks it “no MQ seats” in a footnote. Use the claim as a filter: anyone who so much as hints at a paid IIM-B seat has told you everything about the rest of their table.
COMEDK has nothing to do with MBA
Several consultancy pages sprinkle “COMEDK” into MBA articles to sound official. COMEDK UGET is an Under Graduate Entrance Test for the 2026-27 academic year, covering engineering and allied undergraduate admissions. It has no MBA paper and no postgraduate management role whatsoever. PGCET and KMAT are the Karnataka exams that matter here; COMEDK in an MBA pitch is a tell.
What agents won’t tell you
The per-college “MQ seat counts” in their tables (“Christ: 18 to 30 quota seats”) appear in no official document, because the colleges with published seat data have no quota and the quota colleges publish fees, not broker inventories. One widely copied portal table labels total sanctioned intake as “management quota seats”, inflating the market they claim to sell. Two of the “independent” consultancies ranking for this search publish the same phone number. And the genuine management-seat door, KMAT, is an exam anyone in India can register for this week, at exam-fee prices.
What a legal management seat costs in Karnataka
Wherever a management-share seat genuinely exists, the cost is the college’s published fee, full stop. Capitation, meaning any payment beyond it, is a criminal offence under the Karnataka Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Capitation Fee) Act, 1984, and Section 7 carries 3 to 7 years’ imprisonment. Pay only the institution’s account, against a receipt; a bank will lend against a published fee structure and nothing else, as we detail in our education loan guide for management quota seats. The degree itself records the university and the class awarded, never the admission route, so a KMAT admittee and a PGCET admittee of the same programme graduate identical on paper. National context, state by state, is in our college-by-college fee reality check and in our analysis of whether management quota is legal.
The July 2026 clock
- KMAT 2026 registration closes 15 July 2026 (kmatindia.com). If the management-seat route is your plan, this is the live deadline.
- PGCET 2026 is past registration; check the KEA portal for the current counselling stage.
- Christ and Jain closed their listed 2026 windows months ago (25 January for Christ Lavasa, 31 March for Jain’s JET deadline as listed); late or next-cycle openings appear only on their own pages.
- Alliance admits to its July 2026 batch through apply.alliance.edu.in against the published fee PDF.

Good to know
Questions, answered
- Which MBA colleges in Bangalore have management quota seats?
- Legitimate management-share seats exist in the private, university-affiliated self-financing colleges that admit through KMAT, the exam run by the Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association, which lists 189 member institutions for MBA. The big deemed and private universities agents usually name, Christ, Jain, Alliance and PES, fill every seat through their own published admissions, and IIM Bangalore admits through CAT only.
- What is the management quota fee for an MBA in Bangalore?
- There is no single figure, only each college's published fee. Verified in July 2026: Christ University's MBA is Rs 5,70,000 per year for Karnataka students and Rs 5,80,000 for other states, Alliance University's MBA (July 2026-28) is Rs 15,00,000 total in its official fee PDF, and PES University's published merit fee is Rs 7,50,000 per year. Anything demanded above a published fee is capitation, which is a criminal offence in Karnataka.
- Is PGCET required for MBA management quota admission in Karnataka?
- No. Karnataka PGCET is KEA's exam for the government-share seats it counsels in affiliated colleges. Management-share seats in private affiliated colleges are filled through KMAT, and deemed universities such as Christ, Jain and Alliance run their own admissions with no PGCET involvement at all.
- Does IIM Bangalore have a management quota?
- No. IIM Bangalore's own admissions page states that domestic admissions are based on applications received through CAT, with final selection on CAT performance, scholastic achievement, work experience, the Writing Ability Test and interview. There is no management, NRI or paid direct route, so any agent offering an IIM-B seat is describing something that does not exist.
- Is COMEDK an entrance exam for MBA?
- No. COMEDK UGET is an undergraduate entrance test for the 2026-27 academic year covering engineering and allied undergraduate courses. It has no MBA paper and no role in any postgraduate management admission, so a consultant citing COMEDK for MBA is bluffing.
- Is management quota MBA admission legal in Bangalore?
- A management-share seat filled through KMAT and the college's own process at the published fee is legal. Capitation, meaning any payment beyond the published fee, is a criminal offence under the Karnataka Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Capitation Fee) Act, 1984, with 3 to 7 years' imprisonment under Section 7. Pay only the college's account, against a receipt.
- What is KMAT and which colleges accept it?
- KMAT Karnataka is conducted by the Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA) for admission to the management share of seats in AICTE-approved, university-affiliated self-financing colleges. Its site lists 189 member institutions for MBA, candidates from anywhere in India can appear, and KMAT 2026 registration closes on 15 July 2026.
