MICA, Ahmedabad

MICA is the school that proves an Ahmedabad MBA map is not one road: IIMA’s CAT machine at the top, and beside it a marketing-and-communications institute that runs its own exam, weights creativity alongside analytics, and publishes its fee and placement seasons to the rupee.

How does the selection machine actually run?

Three published stages on the official admissions page. First, apply for MICAT and submit a CAT, XAT or GMAT score — the national test and MICAT are both parts of the route. Second, sit MICAT I (December) and/or MICAT II (February); MICA counts the better score. Third, shortlisted candidates attend the Group Exercise and Personal Interview, and final selection follows MICA’s published weightages across the components.

For the 2026 intake this road is closed — the page says so plainly, with final results out on or before 15 April 2026. The 2027-intake schedule had not been posted as of 28 August 2026. That matters for planning: between now and the next notification, the only honest action is preparation, not ‘application assistance’ for an intake that no longer accepts applications.

What does it cost, and what does it return?

The published fee is Rs 28 lakh for the 2025-27 batch, with financial aid available: 25-30 scholarships a year worth 25% to 100% of tuition on a merit-cum-means basis, assessed by a committee interview, plus an equity scholarship of up to Rs 5 lakh. The return, from the official 2026-27 placement brochure: 197 students placed across 91 recruiters, average CTC Rs 20.12 LPA, median Rs 19.57 LPA, highest Rs 45.67 LPA — and the prior season’s report (average Rs 19,22,807; median Rs 18,00,000) is still linked for comparison. Two consecutive sourced seasons is more transparency than most of the market offers.

Where does MICA fit in an Ahmedabad shortlist?

As the specialist layer. If the goal is brand management, media, or the marketing-analytics intersection, MICA’s PGDM-C is the flagship and its recruiter list shows it. If the goal is a general-management career or consulting, IIM Ahmedabad — or the exam bar it represents — is the honest target. And if the constraint is budget rather than score, IRMA in Anand publishes an Rs 8.7 lakh all-in fee for a development-management MBA. All four layers are mapped in the Ahmedabad city guide.
