The short answer
As of September 2026, University Business School at Panjab University, Chandigarh admits its flagship MBA on CAT scores alone — 85% test, 7.5% group discussion, 7.5% interview — for 64 general seats plus printed NRI and foreign-national supernumerary seats. The published course fee is Rs 23,945 a year (un-revised 2024-25 rate), the cheapest verified MBA door we have mapped.
Selection process
- Hold a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/BC/PwD); a pass in the CA, CMA (ICWA) or CS final examination also qualifies.
- Sit the CAT — for the flagship MBA, MBA (Human Resource), MBA (International Business), MBA (Entrepreneurship) and MBA (Business Data Analytics), the published admission note is simply 'Based on CAT'.
- Appear for the group discussion and personal interview called by the school.
- Merit is computed on the printed formula: CAT score 85%, group discussion 7.5%, personal interview 7.5% — the same 85/7.5/7.5 split the school prints for its CET(PG)-based courses.
- Supernumerary seats are printed per programme, not negotiated: the flagship MBA carries 6 NRI/ward-of-NRI plus 16 foreign-national seats over and above the 64 general seats.

Is there a management quota here?
UBS is a government university department, and its official courses page prints exactly one route per programme — CAT, then a group discussion and personal interview, on an 85/7.5/7.5 merit formula. There is no management-quota percentage anywhere on the page. What the page does print are supernumerary seats by name — 6 NRI/ward-of-NRI and 16 foreign-national seats on the flagship MBA, for example — which are published numbers inside the admission rules, not a discretionary share anyone can sell. An offer of a 'quota seat' at UBS contradicts the school's own published seat matrix.
University Business School at Panjab University is the government floor of the tricity’s MBA map — and the floor is astonishingly low. A two-year MBA from a university department that has taught management for four decades, at a published course fee of Rs 23,945 a year, selected on one of the simplest printed formulas in the country: CAT 85%, group discussion 7.5%, personal interview 7.5%. Nothing about this door is negotiable, which is exactly what makes it safe.
What should an applicant plan for?
The bar is a bachelor’s degree at 50% (45% for SC/ST/BC/PwD), and the only test that matters is CAT — UBS prints “Based on CAT” against every full-time MBA it runs. The flagship carries 64 general seats; MBA (HR) and MBA (IB) carry 30 each; MBA (Entrepreneurship) and MBA (Business Data Analytics) carry 25 each. Supernumerary seats are printed per programme — NRI/ward-of-NRI and foreign-national numbers in black and white — so the seat matrix you see on the page is the complete inventory.
The school’s price ladder is its own honest signal. The flagship, HR and IB degrees sit at Rs 23,945 a year; Entrepreneurship at Rs 1,20,135; Business Data Analytics at Rs 2,00,000; the Executive MBA at Rs 1,32,835. The same institution charges eight times more for one MBA than another — because the fees are published, not priced per customer. Every figure carries the university’s own “un-revised” label, which is UBS telling you plainly these are the last notified rates. The tricity guide keeps the other three verified doors beside this one.
One planning note we print everywhere: UBS’s cycle is CAT’s cycle. CAT 2026 registration closes 15 September 2026 and the test is 29 November 2026; miss those, and this door stays shut for a full year regardless of what anyone promises. Anyone selling a UBS seat outside the printed CAT-plus-GD-PI route is selling something the school’s own page says does not exist.

Questions, answered
- Which exams does UBS Panjab University accept for the MBA?
- For every full-time MBA programme — flagship, Human Resource, International Business, Entrepreneurship and Business Data Analytics — the official courses page prints 'Based on CAT'. Only the MBA for Executives differs: it runs on Panjab University's own CET(PG) entrance test plus a group discussion and interview. There is no MAT/CMAT/XAT door at UBS.
- What is the UBS Panjab University MBA fee?
- Per the official courses page opened on 4 September 2026: Rs 23,945 per annum for the flagship MBA, MBA (HR) and MBA (IB); Rs 1,20,135 for MBA (Entrepreneurship); Rs 2,00,000 for MBA (Business Data Analytics); and Rs 1,32,835 for the MBA for Executives. Every figure is marked 'un-revised', so treat it as the last notified rate and confirm the exact payable amount on your offer.
- Does UBS Panjab University have a management quota?
- No. The courses page prints one route — CAT, group discussion, personal interview, on an 85/7.5/7.5 formula — and publishes its supernumerary seats by name (NRI/ward-of-NRI and foreign-national numbers per programme). Published supernumerary seats are not a discretionary quota; they follow the same admission rules. Nobody can sell a UBS seat the page does not print.
- How many seats does the UBS flagship MBA have?
- 64 general seats, plus 6 NRI/ward-of-NRI and 16 foreign-national supernumerary seats, as printed on the official courses page. The specialised MBAs run 25-30 general seats each with their own printed supernumerary numbers.
- When should I prepare for UBS's 2027 MBA cycle?
- UBS runs on CAT, so the calendar is CAT's calendar: registration closes 15 September 2026 and the test is 29 November 2026. After results, watch the Panjab University admission portal and ubs.puchd.ac.in for the GD-PI call — the merit formula (85/7.5/7.5) tells you exactly how your file will be read months before you enter it.
