Is there a management quota here?
IMI's official material publishes self-sponsored, company-sponsored and foreign-national applicant categories, all assessed through the institute's selection process. 'Self-sponsored' means the candidate pays the published fee; it is not a guaranteed or agent-filled seat. No bypass is published. Apply and pay only through IMI's official admission portal.
IMI Delhi’s regular PGDM route has two decision points: getting shortlisted and converting the Individual Assessment. For Indian self-sponsored applicants, the live admissions page names CAT and XAT, alongside academic record, for shortlisting. The final stage adds essay writing and personal interview, and the institute says relevant work experience and extracurricular activity may contribute to the overall qualitative assessment.
What does “self-sponsored” actually mean?
It means the student or family funds the published programme fee. It does not mean management quota, donation or assured admission. IMI separately describes company-sponsored applicants, who need an employer letter and still face the same selection process, and foreign-national applicants. The safest interpretation is the literal one on the page: applicant category and fee category are not substitutes for selection.
How should you read the fee?
The published Rs 23,54,000 self-sponsored total is a programme figure for the 2026–28 batch. It includes tuition, learning materials, student activities, library, IT, alumni membership and a refundable security deposit. Hostel and mess are outside that number. IMI says on-campus rooms are limited, allocated first-come-first-served and at its discretion, so a family comparing offers should add the actual allotted room and mess cost rather than assuming accommodation is included.
Where does IMI fit in the four-school shortlist?
IMI suits a candidate who can pair a credible CAT or XAT result with a strong written and interview performance.
