IMT vs IMI vs FORE vs BIMTECH (2026): The Delhi NCR Decision

IMT Ghaziabad, IMI Delhi, FORE School and BIMTECH often land in the same final shortlist, but the useful differences are not a single rank or one placement headline. They use different exam pools, different assessment formats and different residential models. Their published fee figures also describe different things. This comparison keeps those boundaries visible so a family can compare actual offers rather than four numbers that only look equivalent.

The answer first: which school fits which situation?

• IMT Ghaziabad fits an applicant with CAT, XAT or GMAT who can show consistency across academics and experience and is ready for an offline Critical Thinking and Personal Interview process. It is a compulsory residential programme.
• IMI Delhi fits an applicant using CAT or XAT who can convert a written essay and personal interview. Its Delhi location comes with limited on-campus accommodation rather than a guaranteed residential place.
• FORE School fits an applicant using CAT, XAT or GMAT who wants a New Delhi PGDM and can convert a merit process built from exam, selection performance, academics and experience.
• BIMTECH fits an applicant using CAT, XAT, GMAT or CMAT who is comfortable with extempore, interview and compulsory residence. Its published tuition headline is lower, but hostel and mess must be added.

This is route fit, not a claim that one school is universally “best.” Programme offered, career direction, official placement evidence and the final fee letter still decide the offer.

Do not apply the same interview script everywhere. IMT’s Critical Thinking stage tests a different skill from BIMTECH’s extempore; IMI names essay writing; FORE’s current process should be checked in the call letter. The common work is a truthful profile narrative. The school-specific work is the format in which that narrative must survive.

Fees: compare the boundary, not just the number

The published figures below are current as checked on 30 July 2026, but they are not all-in totals with identical inclusions.

BIMTECH therefore has the lowest published tuition headline, not a proven lowest all-in cost. IMI’s “total” includes several programme components and a refundable deposit, while FORE labels its figure “academic fee.” IMT’s programme is residential, so its official schedule should be read alongside what it includes for residence. A sound comparison uses one sheet with tuition, non-refundable programme charges, refundable deposits, hostel, mess, travel and financing cost separated.

Residence and campus commitment

The residential model changes both cost and experience.

IMT Ghaziabad and BIMTECH are compulsory residential choices. Their official FAQs say students must stay in institute accommodation. This can make cohort life more immersive, but it also means hostel and mess cannot be treated as optional lines.

IMI Delhi has limited on-campus rooms. IMI says allocation is first-come-first-served and at the institute’s discretion. A candidate should have a realistic off-campus plan until the room category is confirmed.

FORE offers leased facilities near the New Delhi campus. Its FAQ describes availability, not a compulsory campus model. Ask for the current location, transport and fee before comparing it with the other schools.

Is there a paid or management route?

There is no defensible paid shortcut in the published material.

• IMT says its process is entirely merit-based and there is no management or institutional quota.
• FORE says there is no management quota and admission takes place strictly on merit.
• BIMTECH says it does not offer direct admissions, authorise offline brokers or work with agents for seat filling; it calls such claims fraudulent.
• IMI describes self-sponsored, company-sponsored and foreign-national applicants. Company-sponsored applicants need employer documentation, and all categories face the institute’s assessment. “Self-sponsored” means the applicant pays the published fee, not that selection is waived.

The safe payment rule is simple: use the institute’s own portal, pay the institute named on the official document, and match every amount to the offer letter. A person selling certainty outside these processes is contradicting the schools’ own pages.

How to judge placement fit without being misled

Do not choose on “highest package,” and do not compare averages unless the reports use the same batch and denominator. For each actual offer, inspect the latest official placement report and ask four narrower questions:

1. Which roles and functions repeatedly hired from the exact programme offered to you?
2. How large was the participating cohort behind the published statistic?
3. Does the report disclose a median or distribution, rather than only an average and maximum?
4. Are your target roles visible by title, or are you inferring them from recruiter logos?

This is especially important when comparing a core PGDM offer with a specialised programme. The school name can stay constant while curriculum, cohort and role mix change.

A practical decision order

Use this order when more than one call or offer is live:

1. Route: remove a school if you do not hold an accepted exam for that programme.
2. Programme: compare the exact PGDM track, not only the institution.
3. Total cost: put all four offers on the same cost boundary, including residence.
4. Role evidence: read the latest official report for functions and roles that match your plan.
5. Assessment: prepare for the named school-specific stage.
6. Payment safety: verify the offer and bank details on the official portal before depositing.

If the offers remain close, the residential preference and role-level evidence usually clarify more than another generic ranking.
