As of 19 September 2026, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad admits 120 MBA students (90 MBA + 30 MBA Business Analytics) on a valid CAT 2025 score, a 60% degree bar and a personal interview weighted at 40 percent. The official 2026-27 fee circular prints admission-semester payable of Rs 1,16,400 for GEN/OBC with tuition of Rs 75,000 a semester.
Selection process
- Hold a valid CAT 2025 score (2026-27 session). Any-discipline graduates with 60%/CGPA 6.0 (55%/5.5 SC/ST/PwD) qualify; final-year candidates apply provisionally with completion proof due by 30 September 2026. MBA (Business Analytics) accepts B.Tech/B.E. degrees only.

What should an applicant plan for?
The machine is simple and published. A valid CAT score gets you shortlisted on the percentile; the interview then decides most of it — 40% of the final score against CAT’s 35%, with academics, work experience and a printed female-candidate weight making up the rest. There is no group discussion, no written test and no second exam. The application window historically opens in late December and closes at the end of January, with interviews through February and March and results in early May.
Where does IIT (ISM) Dhanbad sit in an IIT MBA shortlist?
At the value end of the six-department IIT comparison — below the Rs 13-15 lakh totals of SJMSOM Bombay and VGSoM Kharagpur, close to IIT Roorkee’s Rs 9,74,200, and unlike several peers it prints the full fee structure rather than leaving it unpublished.
