Goa Institute of Management
Last updated 29 August 2026 · Reviewed by Piyush Agarwal · Latest change: Initial sourced profile published from four official pages opened 29 August 2026: the admission-process page (50% bar, 2027-29 exam years, Achiever's Round, 40/15/10/30/5 weights, Goan-domicile relief, no-donation FAQ), the fees page (Rs 21,45,000 instalment schedule and ACCESS scholarships), the audited-placement-reports library and the 2023-25 PGDM IPRS scan read page by page (301/259/42 classification, INR salary heads), plus the current placement-reports page (2024-26 season figures)
The short answer
As of August 2026, Goa Institute of Management's two-year PGDM costs a published Rs 21,45,000 in academic fee for the 2026-28 batch across four instalments, admits on XAT 2027/CAT 2026/GMAT with a 50% graduation bar, and its 2023-25 placement report is IPRS-audited: 259 placed, median Rs 12.62 lakh guaranteed cash. No donations are accepted.
Selection process
- Apply online; applications to all full-time PGDM programmes run through one form with a programme preference order.
- Achiever's Round: a profile-based shortlist evaluated WITHOUT exam scores first — programme-specific achievements (select-institute graduates, MBBS/BPharm/biotech, CA/CS/CMA/CFA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA/FRM holders, engineers with 24+ months at named companies) and other achievements (sports, academics, workplace) earn early interviews in Delhi, Goa and Kolkata; spot offers are possible, and non-selected scores carry forward to the regular round.
- Eligibility: minimum 50% aggregate in a bachelor's degree (45% in the latest examination for SC/ST final-year candidates); degree completion by June 2027 for the 2027-29 cycle.
- Accepted tests for the 2027-29 cycle: XAT 2027, CAT 2026, or GMAT taken between 1 January 2025 and 15 January 2027 (ask GMAC to deliver the score by 31 January 2027; GIM's code is 6VN-62-51; in-person test-centre GMAT only).
- Shortlisted candidates complete an online Written Aptitude Test (date announced later) and a face-to-face evaluation in selected cities.
- Published selection criteria: objective assessment (XAT/CAT/GMAT) 40%, past academic records 15%, work experience 10%, face-to-face evaluation 30%, profile assessment/diversity 5%. For interview shortlisting the qualifying cut-off may be lowered by up to 15 points for candidates of Goan domicile/origin with documentary evidence.

Is there a management quota here?
GIM answers the quota question at the top of every admissions page in bold: 'Admission to Goa Institute of Management is purely merit-based. No donations or payments of any kind are accepted for admission.' Its own FAQ asks 'Is there any reservation or Management quota at GIM?' and answers no donation in any form is sought or accepted. The only published concession is a qualifying cut-off lowered by up to 15 points for Goan-domicile candidates at the interview-shortlist stage — a residency consideration inside a merit process, not a paid seat. There is nothing for a quota agent to sell.
Most Indian B-schools publish a placement number. GIM publishes a placement audit — a 32-page report stamped by B2K Analytics (formerly Brickworks) conforming to Indian Placement Reporting Standards Revision 2.2, signed jointly by GIM’s placement chair and the auditor. We opened the 2023-25 PGDM scan page by page on 29 August 2026. It is the most honest placement artefact in our entire college library, and it reshapes what “GIM placements” actually mean.
Next question, if you are weighing coastal merit schools: how TAPMI Manipal’s published fee-and-bar structure compares.
How does the selection machine actually run?
GIM runs two doors into the same merit process. The Achiever’s Round shortlists on profile first and exam scores only later: professional qualifications (CA, CS, CMA, CFA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, FRM), degrees from select institutes, MBBS and pharma backgrounds for the healthcare and analytics programmes, 24+ months of engineering experience at named companies, national-level sport, academic distinctions. Interviews run in Delhi, Goa and Kolkata, and a strong profile can earn a spot offer — a documented route where your exam percentile is not the first thing read.
The Regular Round is conventional: XAT 2027, CAT 2026 or a test-centre GMAT (taken 1 Jan 2025-15 Jan 2027), an online Written Aptitude Test, then a face-to-face evaluation. Final weights are published — exam 40%, academics 15%, work experience 10%, face-to-face 30%, profile/diversity 5% — and the eligibility bar is 50% in graduation (45% latest-exam for SC/ST final-year candidates). One residency note: candidates of Goan domicile or origin can have the interview qualifying cut-off lowered by up to 15 points, with documents. That is a residency consideration inside a published merit process — not a quota.
What does it cost, and what does it return?
Rs 21,45,000 total academic fee for 2026-28 — the same figure whether you choose the flagship PGDM, Healthcare, Big Data Analytics or Banking & Financial Services — in four published instalments plus a Rs 25,000 refundable caution deposit. GIM also publishes the largest single scholarship line we have seen at this fee level: up to 45 ACCESS awards of Rs 5,00,000 each, reserved for Achiever’s Round admits, plus seven Rs 5 lakh GIM-MBBS scholarships for doctors entering the healthcare programme. Our budget-band guide puts the sticker price in the premium private band; the audited numbers below are what you weigh it against.
The audited 2023-25 record, read the honest way (method in our placement-report guide): of 301 graduates, 259 sought placement through the institute and 42 did not (continuing education, family business, other reasons — the report itemises all 42). For the 259: median total guaranteed cash Rs 12,62,044; mean Rs 13,05,680; maximum Rs 42,72,552; median maximum earning potential Rs 15,00,000. The audit letter is dated 27 April 2026, and the current-season page adds a Rs 35 LPA highest package and 50 PPOs for the 2024-26 batch still in process. Median over mean, guaranteed cash over earning potential — that discipline is exactly why this report is worth more than a marketing headline. See also our average-vs-median explainer.
Where does GIM sit in a shortlist?
As the evidence-maximalist’s choice. Every claim that matters is either published on the admissions pages (fees, weights, dates, the no-donation declaration carried on every page) or independently audited (placements). For a moderate-exam-score profile, the Achiever’s Round is one of the few documented score-blind doors in Indian MBA admissions. Compare with TAPMI Manipal (lower published fee, programme-wise percentile bars, no-quota line) — the two make a clean coastal pair.
How Udaan helps with GIM
By matching your profile to the right round. We audit your CV for Achiever’s Round triggers — professional qualifications, institute pedigree, experience patterns — before you let one exam score define the application, then prepare the WAT and interview that carry 30% of the final weight. For the fee conversation: the instalment schedule is published, so we help you time it and file the ACCESS scholarship application properly. No donation talk, because the institute has already answered it in bold.

Questions, answered
- What is the GIM Goa PGDM fee?
- Rs 21,45,000 in total academic fee for the 2026-28 batch — identical across PGDM, Healthcare (HCM), Big Data Analytics (BDA) and Banking & Financial Services (BIFS) — payable in four published instalments (Rs 50,000 + Rs 4,90,000, then Rs 5,30,000, then Rs 10,75,000), plus a Rs 25,000 refundable caution deposit. Hostel and mess are separate; fees are not refunded if you discontinue.
- Is there management quota at GIM Goa?
- No. Every GIM admissions page states admission is 'purely merit-based' and 'no donations or payments of any kind are accepted', and the official FAQ says no reservation or management quota exists. The only published concession is an interview cut-off lowered by up to 15 points for Goan-domicile candidates — not a paid seat. Treat any 'GIM donation route' offer as fraud.
- What CAT or XAT score does GIM need?
- GIM publishes no fixed cut-off. Shortlisting weighs the exam score at 40% of final selection, and the Achiever's Round initially shortlists WITHOUT exam scores at all, on profile achievements (professional qualifications like CA/CFA, select-institute degrees, national-level sports, 24+ months of engineering experience at named companies). A moderate scorer with a strong profile has a real, documented route here.
- What are GIM Goa's placements, honestly?
- The 2023-25 PGDM report is IPRS-audited (B2K Analytics, letter dated 27 April 2026): of 301 graduates, 259 sought placement and 42 did not; the audited median guaranteed-cash package is Rs 12.62 lakh (mean Rs 13.06 lakh, maximum Rs 42.73 lakh), with median maximum earning potential of Rs 15 lakh. The 2026 season page adds a Rs 35 LPA highest package for the 2024-26 batch. Median-over-mean is the honest read.
- What is the Achiever's Round at GIM?
- A profile-based early-interview loop. Candidates are shortlisted first on achievements — CA/CS/CMA/CFA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA/FRM holders, graduates of select institutes, MBBS/BPharm/biotech backgrounds for HCM/BDA/BIFS, engineers with 24+ months at specific companies, national sports and academic distinctions — with exam scores factored in only later. Interviews run in Delhi, Goa and Kolkata; spot offers are possible, and Achiever's Round candidates are also eligible for the Rs 5 lakh ACCESS scholarships.
- Does GIM accept CMAT or NMAT?
- No. The published list for the 2027-29 cycle is XAT 2027, CAT 2026, or GMAT taken between 1 January 2025 and 15 January 2027 at a physical test centre (score delivered by 31 January 2027, GIM code 6VN-62-51). CMAT and NMAT are not on GIM's list — if those are your scores, [TAPMI](/colleges/mba/manipal/tapmi-manipal/) (NMAT, sectoral programmes) or [Jaipuria Lucknow](/colleges/mba/lucknow/jaipuria-lucknow/) (CMAT/MAT) are the documented alternatives.
