The short answer
As of August 2026, JBIMS Mumbai's MMS admits through the MAH MBA CET — with CMAT and CAT routes in the All India category — via DTE Maharashtra's CAP rounds; there is no institute quota to buy. The AY 2026-27 fee for open-category students is Rs 4,34,289, and the batch of 2024-26 recorded a median CTC of Rs 26.15 lakh.
Selection process
- Take the MAH MBA CET (the primary route); the institute's admissions page also lists CMAT and CAT as qualifying examinations, with separate merit lists produced for the MAH and All India categories.
- Register for DTE Maharashtra's Centralised Admission Process (CAP); seat allotment runs on entrance merit, category and options frozen.
- On allotment, report at JBIMS (Dadabhai Naoroji House, 164 Backbay Reclamation, Churchgate) with original documents per the DTE information brochure; AY 2026-27 reporting windows were 3-5 August (CAP I), 13-17 August (CAP II), 25-27 August (CAP III) and 4-7 September 2026 (CAP IV).
- Pay the published category fee through the institute's QR-code facility (NEFT/RTGS/IMPS via net banking, or card/UPI up to Rs 5 lakh); the official notice bars any other payment channel.

Is there a management quota here?
No management quota exists at JBIMS. It is a University of Mumbai institute, and MMS seats fill through DTE Maharashtra's CAP merit lists — the same channel the [Maharashtra quota rules](/management/management-quota-maharashtra/) describe for government and university-aided institutes. The only supernumerary layer on the official site is the AICTE-style PIO/OCI/foreign-nationals/CIWGC quota, which is not a paid channel. Any 'JBIMS quota seat' offer contradicts the institute's published CAP-only process.
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies — the “CEO Factory” of Churchgate — is the sharpest fee-to-outcome ratio in Indian management education, and the cleanest possible illustration of why the Mumbai “quota seat” market is fiction: a University of Mumbai institute at Rs 4,34,289 a year for open-category students does not need a back door, and does not have one. Admission runs through the MAH MBA CET and DTE Maharashtra’s CAP rounds, full stop.
What should an applicant plan for?
The MAH MBA CET first — it is the primary route — with CMAT and CAT scores counted in the All India category under separate merit lists, per the institute’s own admissions page. Then CAP: allotment follows your entrance merit, category and frozen options, and allotted candidates report at the Churchgate campus in the published windows (for AY 2026-27: 3-5 August, 13-17 August, 25-27 August and 4-7 September). Fees go through the institute’s QR-code payment facility only — the official notice lists no other channel, which is itself the answer to anyone asking for cash.
The return: the official batch-of-2024-26 report records a mean CTC of Rs 26.67 lakh and a median of Rs 26.15 lakh for a 155-strong MMS batch — a payback period measured in months, not years, against the open-category fee.
Where does JBIMS fit in a Mumbai shortlist?
At the very top on value, with the hardest entry bar in the city through the state system. If your CET percentile misses the CAP cutoffs, the realistic Mumbai ladder runs through the own-process names — KJ Somaiya, Welingkar, SPJIMR — or a second CET attempt. Our Mumbai guide maps all of it, and the Maharashtra quota page explains which colleges legally hold institute-level seats (JBIMS is not one of them).
How Udaan helps with JBIMS
We help you read your CET score against realistic CAP cutoffs, order your option form sensibly, and keep a parallel shortlist warm in case the rounds move against you. Counselling registration, option entry and fee payment all stay on the state’s and the institute’s own portals — there is nothing for an intermediary to sell you here.

Questions, answered
- Which exams get you into JBIMS Mumbai?
- The MAH MBA CET is the primary route, with CMAT and CAT accepted for the All India category, per the institute's admissions page. Separate merit lists are produced for the MAH and All India categories, and allotment runs through DTE Maharashtra's CAP rounds — there is no separate JBIMS application to buy.
- What is the JBIMS MMS fee?
- For AY 2026-27, per the institute's official admission notice: Rs 4,34,289 for Open and J&K Migrant category students, Rs 3,48,977 for OBC/EWS/SEBC male, Rs 2,63,664 for OBC/EWS/SEBC female and VJ/DT-NT/SBC/Orphan categories, Rs 2,68,914 for TFWS, and Rs 10,000 for SC/ST. Payment goes only through the institute's QR-code facility.
- Is there a management quota at JBIMS?
- No. JBIMS is a University of Mumbai institute whose MMS seats fill through DTE CAP merit lists. The only supernumerary seats on the official site are the PIO/OCI/foreign-nationals/CIWGC category. Anyone quoting a JBIMS 'donation seat' is describing something the institute does not have.
- What were JBIMS's latest MMS placement figures?
- Per the official Unified Final Placement Report for the batch of 2024-26: mean CTC Rs 26.67 lakh, median Rs 26.15 lakh, highest Rs 80 lakh, with the top 10% averaging Rs 38.25 lakh; 70+ recruiters participated and 93 PPOs/PPIs were made to a batch of 155.
- When do JBIMS MMS CAP reporting rounds happen?
- For AY 2026-27 the institute's notice set reporting windows of 3-5 August (CAP Round I), 13-17 August (Round II), 25-27 August (Round III) and 4-7 September 2026 (Round IV), 10 am to 5 pm at the Churchgate campus. The 2027-28 cycle follows the DTE schedule published each summer.
- Does JBIMS run anything besides the MMS?
- Yes: a full-time M.Sc. Finance, a Masters in Human Resource Development (MHRD), a part-time MMS for working professionals, and a Ph.D. programme — each with its own admission schedule on the institute's announcements page.
