Alliance MBA Selection Process in 2026: Every Published Stage, Step by Step

Alliance University publishes its MBA selection process in unusual detail, down to the three-minute limit on the extempore. What it does not publish is a cutoff, and that gap is where agent sites do their inventing. This page walks through every stage the university itself describes for the two-year MBA at Alliance School of Business, July Batch 2026-28, names the document behind each one, and is plain about what is not in writing anywhere.

How does the Alliance MBA selection process work in 2026?

In two layers: an application layer that gets you a seat at the evaluation, and a full-day evaluation that decides the outcome. Per the university’s official admission process page, the sequence for any programme is: apply on the university’s online portal, pay the application fee, choose an Alliance Selection Process date, attend the full-day evaluation, and receive the result the same day. The application fee for the MBA is INR 1,000 for Indian applicants and US$50 for foreign national aspirants, per the official MBA admission process page.

The same official page states the governing rule in one line: admission to any programme at Alliance University is strictly based on merit. There is no second track. Alliance is a private university established by Karnataka State Act No.34 of 2010 and recognized by the UGC (About Alliance University, official page), and as a private university filling its own seats, the published process is the whole process.

Two outcomes rules are worth knowing before you book a date. First, the result comes the same day, as Selected, Waitlisted or Rejected, per the official admission process page. Second, the same page states that rejected applicants cannot reapply to the same programme that academic year. The process is accessible, but it is not a free retry loop. Treat the selection day as the real exam.

Which exams does Alliance accept, and who is eligible?

Any one national-level management aptitude test, or AMAT, the Alliance Management Aptitude Test, the university’s own exam, per the official MBA admission process page. CAT, XAT, GMAT and NMAT are named in the scholarship criteria on that page, and MAT, KMAT and CMAT are also referenced. AMAT is the detail that makes Alliance a genuine option for candidates without a national score: missing CAT season does not close this door, because the university runs its own test.

Eligibility is a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks aggregate, 45% for SC/ST candidates, plus a qualified entrance-test score, per the same official page. That is the entire published bar. There is no work-experience requirement and no board-specific condition on the page.

One clarification, because agent sites blur it. Accepting many exams is not the same as needing no exam. The published eligibility requires an entrance score, and the honest route for a candidate holding none is to sit AMAT, not to pay someone who claims exams are optional. What is the Alliance MBA cutoff for 2026?

Alliance publishes no minimum admission cutoff. We checked the official MBA admission process page on 13 July 2026: it names the accepted exams and the eligibility marks, but there is no score below which the university says you cannot be admitted. Any site quoting “the Alliance cutoff” as a hard admission bar is quoting a number the university has not put in writing. The only published score bars are scholarship tiers. Per the official MBA admission process page:

Merit scholarships also carry an academic prerequisite of 60% and above cumulative across Class X, XII and graduation, per the same page. MAT, KMAT and CMAT are referenced there too; we quote only the tiers we verified verbatim, so confirm those exams’ current tiers on the official page.

Read the table for what it is. These bars price the seat, they do not gate it. A candidate below every tier can still be selected on the day; a candidate above the top tier still sits the same extempore, essay and interview as everyone else. What happens on the selection day itself?

Five published components, ending in an interview. The official MBA admission process page lists them:

1. Academic performance. Your record to date is an evaluated component, not a formality.
2. Entrance-test scores. Your national test score and/or AMAT is weighed in selection.
3. Oral extempore presentation. Maximum three minutes, on a topic given on the spot, per the official page. There is no way to script this; there is a way to practise it.
4. Essay writing skills. A written communication assessment.
5. Personal interview. The official page states this is the final step in the selection process.

The overall admission process page describes the day as a full-day evaluation with the result announced the same day. Prepare accordingly: the components that move on the day are the extempore, the essay and the interview, because your academics and test score are already fixed when you walk in. Current-affairs reading, timed three-minute practice runs on random topics, and a clear answer to why an MBA and why now, are worth more here than any contact an agent claims to have.

Can anyone get you past the process for a fee?

No, and the university says so in writing. The official admission process page states that admission to any programme is strictly based on merit, that Alliance communicates directly with all shortlisted candidates, and that under no circumstances will the university appoint an intermediary, whether an individual or organization, to approach candidates with promises of a certain seat for a fee or otherwise. The same page advises families against transactions with such intermediaries.

The legal line sits underneath that. In Karnataka, any payment for a seat beyond published fees is capitation, a criminal offence under the Karnataka Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Capitation Fee) Act, 1984, which carries 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
