WeSchool PGDM Selection Process 2026: Exams, Cutoffs and the GD-PI Round

WeSchool is one of the few private B-schools that publishes its shortlisting bars as an actual document: a cutoff PDF on the official application subdomain, campus by campus, programme by programme, exam by exam. That makes the selection process unusually checkable, and it leaves very little room for anyone claiming a side door. This page walks through every published stage for the 2026-28 batch, with each figure tied to its official source.

One note on verification. During our July 2026 checks, welingkar.org was intermittently unreachable, so the campus-page facts below are as displayed on the official Mumbai and Bengaluru PGDM pages in April 2026, during the 2026-28 admission cycle. The entrance-test cutoff PDF was verified live from the application subdomain. Reconfirm details on the official Mumbai PGDM page before acting on them.

Which exams does WeSchool accept for PGDM 2026-28?

Five: CAT 2025, XAT 2026, GMAT (scores from 2023 onwards), ATMA February 2026 and CMAT 2026, per the official entrance-test cutoff PDF for the 2026-28 batch. The same five apply at both the Mumbai and Bengaluru campuses.

Two things follow from that list. First, there is no own-exam route: WeSchool admits only against these national exams, so you need at least one listed score before you can be shortlisted. Second, the list is genuinely multi-exam. A strong CMAT 2026 or ATMA February 2026 clears the same gate, just at a slightly higher percentile bar. MAT, NMAT and SNAP are not on the published list. An agent telling you a MAT score “works at Welingkar” is contradicting the institute’s own PDF.

What are the published WeSchool cutoffs?

The headline bar is 80 percentile in CAT 2025, XAT 2026 or GMAT (85 in ATMA or CMAT) for the flagship Mumbai group, stepping down by programme and campus to 70, per the official cutoff PDF, which publishes the full general-merit-list grid for 2026-28. Here it is in full.

Read these for what they are: shortlisting bars, not admission bars. Clearing the cutoff gets you into the selection process; the offer is decided later, on a composite score. The PDF also describes shortlisting as based on profile and/or entrance percentile, so the institute reserves room to weigh the whole application even at this first gate.

Who is eligible to apply?

A minimum 50% in graduation, completed by June 2026, plus a score in one of the five accepted exams. That is the published line on both campus pages for 2026-28: CAT 2025, XAT 2026, ATMA February 2026, CMAT 2026 or GMAT (2023 onwards).

There is no work-experience requirement, no age bar and no stream restriction in the published eligibility. Final-year students finishing by June 2026 can apply. Applications go through the official portal at pgdm2026-28.welingkar.org; the application fee is not published on any accessible official page, so confirm the current amount on the portal itself before paying, and pay only there.

How does the selection process work after shortlisting?

In three published stages: shortlist, profile-based assessment, composite merit list.

Stage 1: shortlisting. Apply through the portal with a valid exam score. Shortlisting for the online selection process runs on profile and/or entrance percentile at the published campus and programme cutoffs above, per the official cutoff PDF.

Stage 2: the profile-based round. The official Mumbai PGDM page describes a profile-based selection process built from a pre-interview questionnaire, a group discussion and a personal interview, weighed together with your academics, work experience and entrance score. The institute says in its own words that the process assigns significant value to academic performance and work experience, so a modest exam score with a strong profile is a real candidacy here, not a courtesy interview.

Stage 3: the composite merit list. The published parameter weightages on the Mumbai page are: entrance percentile 40%, academics across Class X, XII and graduation 15%, pre-interview questionnaire and personal interview 40%, and extra-curriculars, awards and diversity 5%. The composite score ranks a merit list, and offers follow from it. One honest caveat: the page’s weightage table still cites 2022-cycle exams, and the institute has not republished the split for 2026-28, so treat these numbers as the institute’s last published position and confirm the current weightages with admissions.

The practical reading of that split: the exam gets you in the room, but the questionnaire and interview carry as much weight as the exam itself. Prepare both like 40% of your score depends on them, because it does.

How do the two campuses work in the application?

The institute publishes them as separate cutoff grids with separate programmes and intakes, and that is the extent of the sourced mechanics. Mumbai runs eight full-time PGDM programmes with a flagship intake of 180 (programme started 1994); Bengaluru runs four, with a flagship intake of 60 (started 2009), both per the official campus pages. Bengaluru’s bars sit five percentile points below Mumbai’s for the equivalent programmes, which makes it the realistic target for scores in the mid-70s.

How campus preference is captured inside the application form, and whether you can be considered for both campuses on one application, is not published on any page we could access; those mechanics sit inside the portal flow. Confirm them on the official application portal before submitting. Note one budget fact from the official Bengaluru page before you list that campus: hostel accommodation is mandatory for Bengaluru students. Is there a management quota or a way around the cutoffs?

No. The official PGDM page states admissions are based on merit only, and no management-quota or institutional-quota route for the PGDM is published anywhere on the pages we accessed. As an AICTE-approved standalone PGDM institute, WeSchool also sits under Appendix-9 of the AICTE Approval Process Handbook, which requires every seat to be filled from entrance-exam qualifiers strictly on the basis of merit. Agents selling a “Welingkar quota” usually lean on one of two real facts stretched past recognition. The institute’s site archives show a one-off Institute Level Seats vacancy round for the PGDM 2021-23 batch, an advertised four-day window in July 2021; nothing equivalent is published for the current cycle, and even that was the institute’s own process. And the Mumbai campus separately runs an MMS programme under the University of Mumbai’s CAP regime, which does have DTE-governed institutional-quota notices; that is a different degree with a different regulator.
