Selection process
- Apply online only when the department calls for applications (the call goes out around February; AY 2026-27 closed 31 March 2026) with a non-refundable fee of Rs 2,000 (Open/OBC-NCL/EWS) or Rs 1,000 (SC/ST/PH).
- Hold a valid score in CAT, GMAT, XAT, CMAT or MAT; the score must be declared before the application deadline, and if you sat more than one test only one score is used.
- Appear for the personal interview in the notified window (AY 2026-27 ran 16 March to 26 April 2026).

Is there a management quota here?
MNIT is a government Institute of National Importance, and its AY 2026-27 brochure describes exactly one way in: the online application, the printed 100-point composite, category-wise merit lists, three printed waitlist rounds, and a printed spot-admission round on 16 July 2026 for seats still vacant after the waitlists. No management-quota, NRI-quota or paid-seat percentage appears anywhere in the brochure or on the department page we opened on 3 September 2026. The brochure's own dates — apply by 31 March, accept by 21 May, waitlists into June, spot in July — are the complete list of doors.
The Department of Management Studies at Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur is the government floor of the city’s MBA map — an Institute of National Importance whose two-year MBA costs less than many colleges’ first instalment. Its answer to the trust question is arithmetic: a 100-point selection formula printed in the brochure, category-wise merit lists, and a spot round with a date on it.
What should an applicant plan for?
The bar is a bachelor’s degree at 60% or CGPA 6.5/10 (55% or 6.0 for SC/ST), with final-year students welcome provisionally. Any one of CAT, GMAT, XAT, CMAT or MAT keeps the file alive — but the conversion table matters: CAT and GMAT percentiles count at full value (x 1.0/2.5 toward the 40-point test component), CMAT and XAT at 0.9, and MAT at 0.8. The cycle rhythm is printed to the day. AY 2026-27 ran: applications to 31 March, interviews 16 March-26 April, result 15 May, acceptance to 21 May, then three waitlist rounds into early June and a spot-admission round on 16 July 2026 for anything still vacant. For the 2027 cycle, watch the institute website from December and hold a score that will be declared in time.
The money is the best verified story in the city. Tuition is Rs 50,000 per semester for GEN/OBC-NCL/EWS — and zero for SC/ST, whose candidates pay only registration and institute fees. Against the printed semester table, the full degree lands near Rs 3.26 lakh all-in (Rs 1.26 lakh for SC/ST), before hostel and mess. Fees are paid only online through the institute ERP after a merit-list offer, with a provisional admission letter generated on payment. One caution we print everywhere: MNIT’s waitlist and spot rounds are the only late doors, and they run on the same merit list at the same fees. Anyone offering an MNIT seat outside that printed trail is selling something the brochure says does not exist.

- Hold a CAT 2026 score (test in November 2026) or a MAT/CMAT/XAT/GMAT score declared before the application deadline, and watch mnit.ac.in from December — the 2026 rhythm was applications to 31 March, interviews through April, result in mid-May. Since MAT converts at a 0.8 factor against CAT's 1.0, a strong CAT or GMAT score is mathematically the better door here.
