The short answer
As of August 2026, BITSoM's two-year MBA admits on CAT, GMAT, GMAT Focus or GRE scores through a holistic profile review and interview; MBA 2027-29 Round 1 applications run 19 August to 15 November 2026. The published total cost is Rs 28,55,000, including tuition of Rs 23,85,000, a one-time admission fee, accommodation and a refundable deposit.
Selection process
- Submit the online application in Round 1 (19 August to 15 November 2026) or Round 2 (16 November 2026 to 24 January 2027); you may apply once per application year, in any one round.
- Enter a valid CAT, GMAT, GMAT Focus or GRE score in the application — the school evaluates only complete applications, and CAT applicants for Round 1 must submit scores by 12 January 2027; GMAT/GRE scores can be submitted up to 31 March 2027.
- The review weighs academic and extracurricular records, leadership potential and communication skills alongside the test score — the school describes its process as holistic, looking beyond test scores.
- Shortlisted candidates face a personal interview; Round 1 interviews run November-December 2026 (CAT applicants January-February 2027) and Round 2 interviews January-April 2027.
- Results: Round 1 on 15 January 2027 (CAT applicants 15 March 2027), Round 2 on 15 April 2027; Term 0 begins online 21 May 2027 and on-campus classes from 19-20 June 2027.

Is there a management quota here?
BITSoM publishes a single merit route — a test score (CAT, GMAT, GMAT Focus or GRE), a holistic application review and a personal interview — and no management-quota or direct-admission channel appears anywhere on its official admissions pages. The school's own fees page bars cash deposits into the institute's account and routes every payment through its fee portal. If anyone offers you a BITSoM seat outside that process, verify the claim with [email protected] before paying a rupee.
BITS School of Management — BITSoM — is the Birla group’s purpose-built business school on a residential campus at Kalyan, in Mumbai’s metropolitan region, and it is the friendliest door in the city’s merit tier for a candidate without a CAT pedigree: four accepted tests, no work-experience bar, and a process that reads the whole file. The two-year residential MBA is running its 2027-29 admissions now — Round 1 opened 19 August 2026.
What should an applicant plan for?
A score in any one of CAT, GMAT, GMAT Focus or GRE, entered into an application the school reads holistically — academic record, extracurriculars, leadership potential, communication. Only complete applications move forward, and you may apply in just one of the two rounds per year. Shortlisted candidates face a personal interview; Round 1 results land 15 January 2027 (15 March for CAT-route applicants), Round 2 on 15 April 2027, and Term 0 begins online on 21 May 2027.
The money, published plainly on the fees page: tuition Rs 23,85,000, a one-time admission fee of Rs 1,50,000, accommodation Rs 3,00,000 and a refundable deposit of Rs 20,000 — Rs 28,55,000 in total, with merit, need-based and women’s scholarships on top.
Where does BITSoM fit in a Mumbai shortlist?
In the own-process private layer alongside KJ Somaiya and Welingkar, below the CET-driven value peak of JBIMS and the profile-led selectivity of SPJIMR. Its distinctive is flexibility: four accepted tests and a fresher-friendly bar make it the realistic merit route for a candidate whose CAT went badly but whose GMAT or GRE might not. Our Mumbai guide and the GMAT/GRE route map cover the alternatives.
