Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, Research and Entrepreneurship Education (SIMSREE)
Last updated 31 August 2026 · Reviewed by Piyush Agarwal · Latest change: Initial sourced profile published from the official SIMSREE MMS course page and admissions page (both opened today): 180 CAP seats, Rs 67,000 + Rs 2,000 yearly fee, exam list, specialisation structure and the CAP-only route
The short answer
As of 31 August 2026, SIMSREE Mumbai's MMS admits 180 students a year entirely through DTE Maharashtra's CAP rounds on entrance merit — the institute lists MAH MBA CET, CMAT, CAT, MAT and ATMA. The published fee is Rs 67,000 plus Rs 2,000 library fees per year. As a University of Mumbai institute there is no management quota to buy.
Selection process
- Take the MAH MBA CET — the exam SIMSREE's own MMS page names first — with CMAT, CAT, MAT and ATMA also listed as qualifying examinations.
- Register in DTE Maharashtra's CAP rounds and enter SIMSREE in your college preferences; allotment runs on entrance merit, category and frozen options.
- On allotment, report at the Churchgate campus with original documents as the DTE information brochure directs.
- Pay the published institute fee — Rs 67,000 plus Rs 2,000 library fees per year — through the institute's official channel at admission.

Is there a management quota here?
No management quota exists at SIMSREE. The institute states that all 180 MMS seats fill through the CAP rounds carried out by DTE Maharashtra. Like JBIMS, this is a University of Mumbai institute inside the state counselling system — the [Maharashtra quota rules](/management/management-quota-maharashtra/) explain why government and university-aided institutes hold no institute-level seats. Any 'SIMSREE donation seat' offer contradicts the institute's published CAP-only process.
SIMSREE is the second name every Mumbai MMS aspirant learns after JBIMS, and for the same reason: a University of Mumbai degree at Churchgate, 180 seats, Rs 67,000 a year — and no back door, because every seat fills through DTE Maharashtra’s CAP merit lists. If an agent has quoted you a “SIMSREE management-quota seat,” the institute’s own course page is the rebuttal: 180 seats, through CAP rounds, full stop.
What should an applicant plan for?
The MAH MBA CET first — it is the exam the institute names first — with CMAT, CAT, MAT and ATMA also listed on the official page. Then the CAP rounds: register with DTE Maharashtra, enter SIMSREE in your option form, and wait for the allotment lists. On allotment you report at Churchgate with original documents and pay the published fee. The two-year structure keeps the first semester common across Finance, Marketing, Operations, Systems and HR, with the specialisation chosen in the second semester and a compulsory two-month internship after year one.
Where does SIMSREE fit in a Mumbai shortlist?
Right beside JBIMS at the top of the value table — the two state-system MMS options whose entire fee is less than one semester at the private names. If your CET percentile misses these CAP cutoffs, the realistic ladder runs through the own-process schools — KJ Somaiya, Welingkar, SPJIMR — or a second CET attempt. Our Mumbai guide maps all of it.
How Udaan helps with SIMSREE
We read your CET score against realistic CAP cutoffs, order your option form so a SIMSREE-first strategy does not cost you safer colleges, and keep a parallel shortlist warm in case the rounds move against you. Counselling registration, option entry and fee payment stay on the state’s and the institute’s own portals — there is nothing here for an intermediary to sell.

Questions, answered
- What is the SIMSREE MMS fee?
- Rs 67,000 plus Rs 2,000 in library fees per year, per the institute's official MMS page — roughly Rs 1.38 lakh for the full two-year degree before any category concession. That makes SIMSREE, like JBIMS, one of the sharpest fee-to-brand ratios in Indian management education.
- How do I get admission to SIMSREE Mumbai?
- Take the MAH MBA CET (the institute also lists CMAT, CAT, MAT and ATMA), register for DTE Maharashtra's CAP rounds, and enter SIMSREE in your college preferences. Allotment runs on entrance merit and category; allotted candidates report at the Churchgate campus with documents. There is no separate SIMSREE application to buy.
- Is there a management quota at SIMSREE?
- No. The institute states that its 180 MMS seats fill through the CAP rounds conducted by DTE Maharashtra. As a University of Mumbai institute it holds no institute-level quota — anyone quoting a SIMSREE 'donation seat' is describing something the institute does not have.
- What specialisations does SIMSREE offer?
- Finance, Marketing, Operations, Systems and Human Resources. The first semester is common to all students and the specialisation is chosen in the second semester itself, followed by a compulsory two-month summer internship after the first year.
- Is SIMSREE affiliated to Mumbai University?
- Yes. The MMS is a University of Mumbai degree that SIMSREE has run since 1983, approved by AICTE. The Sydenham institute sits at Churchgate and also runs an M.Sc. Finance, part-time Master's programmes and a Ph.D.
