Direct MBA Admission in Hyderabad 2026: Own-Exam Universities, TG ICET and Category-B

Type “direct admission MBA Hyderabad” into a search box and the results quote package prices for universities that publish, in writing, that they have no quota to sell. Hyderabad’s real map in 2026 has two layers: a cluster of universities that each run their own published test and selection, and the state’s TG ICET system with its regulated Category-B seats at affiliated colleges. Here is how each actually works, with sources.

Route 1: the universities’ own tests — IBS, NMIMS, SIBM, GITAM, Woxsen

Every major private MBA name in Hyderabad runs its own published process, and none of them needs an intermediary:

• IBS Hyderabad (IFHE) admits through IBSAT, the foundation’s own two-hour computer-based test, and also accepts GMAT, NMAT by GMAC, CAT and XAT scores from 2024 onwards in place of IBSAT; selection then runs through a micro presentation and personal interview on campus.
• NMIMS Hyderabad admits its full-time MBA only through NMAT by GMAC plus a separate NMIMS registration, with a competency test and personal interview at stage two. The official admission handout states “There is NO ‘Management Quota’ at NMIMS for MBA Programs” and treats such offers as fraud; the same document lists the Hyderabad-campus fee at Rs 11,00,000 per annum (AY 2025-26, for information only).
• SIBM Hyderabad, as a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), admits through the mandatory SNAP test followed by its Group Exercise, Personal Interaction and WAT rounds on a printed 50/10/30/10 formula; institute registration for the 2027 batch closes 15 January 2027 and the academic fee is Rs 8,50,000 a year. One correction to how this page used to read: the institute’s own fee page — opened on 6 September 2026 — prints a small Discretionary Quota at double the open-category academic fee, paid to the institute itself, the second Symbiosis campus with the route in writing. • IMT Hyderabad runs the IMT group’s common application (Rs 3,500) for its 2027-29 PGDM: CAT 2026, XAT 2027 or GMAT, a 50% graduation bar, an offline interview from February 2027, and a published Rs 16 lakh two-year fee that already includes accommodation and mess. • GITAM Hyderabad admits through GBAT, GITAM’s own business aptitude test, unless you hold a valid CAT, MAT, NMAT, CMAT, SNAP or AP/TG ICET score, followed by its extempore and interview rounds.
• Woxsen University accepts CAT, NMAT, XAT, GMAT, GRE or its own WAT score, followed by a personal interview, against a 60% undergraduate eligibility bar.
• ISB is the outlier for experienced professionals, profiled here: a one-year PGP on GMAT or GRE test-centre scores with 24+ months of work experience, Class-of-2028 Round 1 closing 20 September 2026, and a published AY 2027-28 fee of Rs 34,48,000 plus GST. One uniform fee, no quota.

The pattern to notice: “direct” at a Hyderabad university means their test and their rounds, not your payment. If the exam score is the worry, what a low score still leaves open covers the honest options.

Route 2: the state layer — TG ICET and Category-B

Telangana’s affiliated MBA colleges sit inside the state’s common-entrance system: TG ICET is the CET, run under the Telangana Regulation of Admissions into MBA/MCA Professional Courses Rules, and TGCHE has confirmed the convener-run CET structure for the 2026-27 cycle, with detailed notifications issued by the respective CET conveners. Convener counselling (Category-A) fills the government-share seats.

Alongside it sits Category-B — the legal name for what agents call management quota at private unaided affiliated colleges. The rules as published: the college fills these seats itself, but only with TG ICET-ranked candidates, through advertised merit lists, at fees fixed by TAFRC, with every admission ratified by TGCHE. The current block-period government order directs that colleges shall not charge any capitation fee or any amount unauthorisedly. The widely quoted 70:30 split between Category-A and Category-B rests on government orders we could not locate on an official URL during verification, so treat the exact percentage as unconfirmed and check TGCHE’s guidelines page for the current cycle. What a legal seat actually costs in Hyderabad

At the universities, the fee on the university’s own pages — NMIMS’s published Hyderabad figure is Rs 11,00,000 per annum (AY 2025-26, marked for information only and subject to revision in the offer letter); SIBM Hyderabad prints Rs 8,50,000 per annum (AY 2026-27) with dated instalments; IMT Hyderabad prints Rs 16,00,000 for the full two years including accommodation and mess (Batch 2027-29). At affiliated colleges, Category-B seats carry the TAFRC-fixed fee for that college, no more. Any amount above the published or fixed figure is capitation, and Telangana’s directions make the college’s obligation explicit.

Red flags that end the conversation in Hyderabad

• Any quota claim attached to NMIMS. The university denies the channel in writing in its admission handout. The claim itself is the fraud.
• Any SIBM Hyderabad “quota” that is not the printed Discretionary Quota. The only route that exists in writing is on the institute’s own fee page: double the open-category academic fee, committee-approved, paid to the institute by transfer or demand draft, entrance scores still required. An outsider’s package at any other price, through any other channel, contradicts the university’s no-agent caution notice.
• A Category-B seat offered without a TG ICET rank requirement. TGCHE’s guidelines make the rank an eligibility condition even for management seats; an exam-free offer is not Category-B, it is the scam pattern.
• Payment to anyone but the institution, in cash, or before a written offer exists. Legal fees go to the college or university, against a published structure, with a receipt.
• Anyone who quotes you the 70:30 split as settled fact but cannot show the current TGCHE guideline. We could not verify the split on an official URL either; honest advice starts from what is published.
