Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi (DMS)

The Department of Management Studies at IIT Delhi — DMS, in Vishwakarma Bhawan on the Hauz Khas campus — is the IIT system’s Delhi MBA: a two-year full-time programme (plus the pioneering MBA in Telecommunication Systems Management with the Bharti School) that charges Rs 12,00,000 for the entire degree and admits through CAT and an interview alone. It belongs on every serious Delhi NCR shortlist next to FMS, and on every “is there a quota at an IIT?” page — there is not.

What does the bar look like?

Higher on academics than most private schools, simpler on process. You need 60% aggregate (or 6.00 CGPA) across all years of your bachelor’s degree — 55% or 5.50 for SC/ST/PwD — plus a CAT score; the department shortlists and interviews at IIT Delhi. For the 2026-28 batch the cycle ran: applications from 30 November 2025 to 1 February 2026 (extended), interviews 9-13 March 2026, results in early May, registration 18-19 July 2026. Final-year students can apply and join provisionally.

The money, stated plainly

Rs 12 lakh for the full programme, in equal semester instalments — and for SC/ST/PwD candidates the tuition component is waived entirely, leaving only per-semester other charges and the residence fee. Against the Rs 21-28 lakh private PGDM layer in the same city, DMS is the arithmetic argument for taking CAT seriously. The department publishes year-wise placement reports on its own site; the archived copies reachable from our host were incomplete, so we deliberately quote no salary figures here — read them on the department’s page, not on an aggregator.

Every fact on this page is therefore taken from the official DMS pages as archived by the Internet Archive on 31 January 2026 — squarely inside the 2026-28 admission cycle — and this paragraph is the disclosure. In the public, CAT-only layer with FMS Delhi and beside the private PGDM cluster (IMT, IMI, FORE, BIMTECH) and the trade-focused IIFT. Choose it for the IIT brand, the Rs 12 lakh fee and the telecom variant; choose FMS for the ultimate fee-to-brand ratio; choose the private layer only when CAT has genuinely closed the first two doors.
