SCMS Cochin School of Business

SCMS Cochin is the Prathap Foundation’s PGDM school at Muttom, Aluva — a six-trimester autonomous diploma with one of the cleanest published processes in Kerala. Six entrance tests open the door, including KMAT Kerala, which makes this the natural campus for a student whose CAT attempt went badly but who sat the state test. The college then says the quiet part in writing: merit is the only criterion for admission.

What should an applicant plan for?

Apply only through the official portal linked from the admission page. The bar is 50% in graduation, and final-year students may apply. One score from ATMA, CAT, CMAT, KMAT (Kerala), MAT or XAT is required; there is no exam-free door. Shortlisted applicants attend a group discussion and personal interview, with original documents verified on the same day.

The money is published to the trimester: Rs 1,32,500 each, six times — Rs 7,95,000 of tuition across the programme. Hostel and mess together come to roughly Rs 8,600 a month. The scholarship menu is unusually specific for this tier: up to 40% of tuition for applicants with more than two years of work experience, Rs 1,00,000 for a 90-plus MAT percentile, 80-plus CAT percentile or 90%-plus graduation score, Rs 50,000 at the next band down, and a Rs 1,00,000 scholarship for students from outside Kerala. Read the conditions on the official page before counting any of them.

The 2025-26 AICTE Mandatory Disclosure adds the demand picture: 120 sanctioned PGDM seats, 948 applications in the 2024 cycle, and published selection weights — graduation 20%, admission test 35%, GD 20%, interview 20%, other criteria 5%. A modest test score still competes if the file around it is strong; it does not get waived.

Where does SCMS fit in a Kochi shortlist?

On evidence, between the public floor and the pricier residential PGDMs. CUSAT’s SMS is the state-university floor at roughly a quarter of the fee; XIME Kochi is the compulsory-hostel option at Rs 9.9 lakh; Rajagiri sells an MG-University MBA at Rs 6 lakh with its own no-capitation declaration. SCMS’s Batch-32 placement page reports 89 students placed at a Rs 6.78 lakh average and Rs 16.42 lakh high — unaudited, but dated and specific.
