SIMS is the Symbiosis system’s defence-linked campus at Khadki — the only Pune SNAP door where 80% of the printed seats carry a defence category and the fee table prints two different academic slabs for defence and civilian candidates. It was parked in our queue for weeks because its admission calendar had gone stale; the 2027-29 calendar republished and we profile it today from sims.edu, opened 22 September 2026.

What should an applicant plan for?

The calendar is now fully printed for batch 2027-29: SNAP registration closes 25 November 2026 (tests 13/19/26 December, result 12 January 2027), SIMS’s own registration and payment close 11 January 2027 — one day before the result — the shortlist prints 14 January, the entire GE-PI process is online across 29-31 January and 6-7 February, the first merit list lands 22-25 February, fees follow by 24 March, and the programme commences 7 June 2027. Missing the 11 January institute payment means a SNAP score never reaches SIMS.

The seat split, and which fee slab applies to you

The printed reservation is unusual and specific: Defence Open 80% for serving and retired Army/Navy/Air Force personnel and their dependents under the MoU’s printed 1987 ex-serviceman definition, Defence Special 10% for personnel killed or disabled in action and next of kin of those who died in service, and Open Category 10% for civilians — all as per merit. The documentation rules are printed just as precisely, and a Zilla Sainik Board certificate alone is expressly not accepted.

The fee table then prices the categories differently: Rs 3,50,000 per instalment for Open Defence (Rs 14,00,000 across the batch), Rs 5,15,200 per instalment for open civilians (Rs 20,60,800 — about 47% more), and Rs 1,66,800 per instalment for Study Leave Officers (Rs 6,67,200). The quota answer

No discretionary-quota line prints on the SIMS pages we opened. The 10% civilian category is a printed, merit-filled seat class at the published civilian fee — not a premium channel — and SIU’s caution notice (no donation, no capitation, no authorised agents, permanent debarment) governs every category. Anyone selling a SIMS seat outside this print is selling something the institute does not publish.
