Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC), Pune

SIMC is the Symbiosis system’s media-and-communication campus at Lavale — SNAP-only, residential, 120 seats for the MBA (Communication Management) — and the fifth Symbiosis campus we have found printing a Discretionary Quota Seats rule in its own documents. Every figure below is from simc.edu, opened 22 September 2026.

What should an applicant plan for?

The process is the Symbiosis two-step: SNAP 2026 first (registration closes 25 November 2026, tests 13/19/26 December, result 12 January 2027), then SIMC’s own registration and payment, then GE-PI for shortlisted candidates. The institute’s new-cycle dates were not yet republished when we checked today — the important-dates page 404s and only the “Apply for SIMC MBA (CM) via SNAP 2026” banner is live. In the completed 2026-28 cycle the institute form closed 19 January 2026, a week after the SNAP result — the pattern differs from sister campuses like SCIT and SIHS, whose forms close before the result, so the SIMC window is the one to watch rather than assume.

The fee, read with the instalment rule

The 2026-28 table prints “Academic Fees (Per Annum) 3,75,500” under each of the four instalment columns — the same label trap documented across the Symbiosis system. The payable rows settle it: instalment one is Rs 6,47,600 (academic 3,75,500 + institute deposit 35,000 + hostel deposit 20,000 + three-sharing hostel 1,57,300 + mess 59,800) and instalment two Rs 4,35,300, so the academic fee is Rs 3,75,500 per semester, Rs 7,51,000 a year, Rs 15,02,000 across the batch. That places SIMC between SCIT’s Rs 15.60 lakh and SIDTM’s Rs 16.90 lakh two-year bills — see the full Symbiosis fee ladder. The NRI/PIO/OCI track prints separately at USD 13,300 a year.

The quota line, verbatim

SIMC’s prospectus carries the same construction as SIBM Bengaluru, SIBM Hyderabad, SIDTM, SIOM and SSSS: a few Discretionary Quota Seats at double the open-category academic fee, Fee Structure Committee approved, paid to the institute by transfer or demand draft, for the entire duration, and only for candidates with a reasonable academic record and good entrance-test scores. On current numbers the 2x line reads Rs 7,51,000 per instalment — about Rs 30.04 lakh across the batch.
