SIBM Pune vs SCMHRD 2026: Same SNAP, Same City, Very Different Bills

SIBM Pune and SCMHRD sit a few kilometres apart, belong to the same deemed university, take the same entrance test, and both fill every seat on merit. Families treat them as one shortlist item — “Symbiosis Pune” — and that is exactly how the fee surprise happens: the two institutes’ official 2026-28 fee documents, both opened on 17 September 2026, describe very different bills. This page puts the two tables side by side, read line by line.

The shared door: SNAP 2026, and nothing else

Both institutes admit their flagship MBA through SNAP 2026 only — registration closes 25 November 2026, tests run 13, 19 and 26 December 2026, the result lands 12 January 2027, and the best of up to three attempts counts. On top of the SNAP registration, each institute runs its own programme registration (SCMHRD’s closes 12 December 2026 at Rs 1,000 per programme), and shortlisted candidates attend the Group Exercise and Personal Interaction rounds in the new year. Neither page prints a management-quota or institute-level line, and the university’s standing caution — no capitation, no agents, permanent debarment for agent-routed aspirants — covers both. The fee tables, read properly

Here is where the sister schools stop looking alike.

SIBM Pune (official 2026-28 fee PDF, read from the rendered document today). The “Academic Fees (Per Annum)” row prints Rs 6,55,000 in every one of the four instalment columns — and the table’s own instalments row proves that is a per-instalment charge, not a yearly one: year one is collected as Rs 9,12,100 at admission (academic Rs 6,55,000 + refundable deposits Rs 40,000 + three-sharing hostel Rs 1,57,300 + mess Rs 59,800) and Rs 7,14,800 by 25 November 2026 (academic Rs 6,55,000 + mess Rs 59,800). Year one therefore totals Rs 16,26,900, and the academic fee alone across the batch is Rs 26,20,000 — before the second year’s hostel and mess, which the PDF says will be communicated later and can rise up to 15% a year.

SCMHRD (official MBA fee page, opened today). Academic fees of Rs 6,45,500 per annum, with the printed totals Rs 8,57,800 for year one (academic + deposits Rs 40,000 + three-sharing hostel Rs 1,12,500 + mess Rs 59,800) and Rs 7,05,300 for year two — Rs 15,63,100 across the two years, with the same payment calendar and the same 15% hostel-and-mess caveat.

One honest caveat: the two schools lay their tables out differently — SIBM Pune prints instalment totals, SCMHRD prints yearly totals — so the cleanest like-for-like line is the academic fee, where SIBM Pune charges roughly double SCMHRD. Either way you read it, “Symbiosis Pune costs Rs 6.5 lakh a year” is wrong at both institutes, in opposite directions.

The misquote trap, named plainly

The SIBM Pune fee PDF’s per-annum row label next to four identical instalment figures is the kind of document agents love, because a family that has read only the row label budgets half the real academic cost and discovers the rest at admission time. This site made that same reading error on its Pune pages until today; the correction (and the arithmetic proof) is now on every affected page. If anyone quotes you a SIBM Pune MBA at “about Rs 6.5 lakh a year”, ask which instalment column they are reading.

Which one fits you

Choose SIBM Pune if its brand weight and alumni network are worth the premium to you — but plan against Rs 16.3 lakh in year one and a two-year outlay past Rs 30 lakh once the second year’s hostel and mess land, not against the misquoted half-figure. Choose SCMHRD if you want the same university degree, the same city and the same exam at a printed two-year total of Rs 15.63 lakh — the strongest budget position we have verified inside the Symbiosis system this cycle.
