Christ vs Jain CMS (2026): The Bangalore MBA Head-to-Head, on Published Facts
Christ University vs Jain CMS Business School for a Bangalore MBA in 2026: verified fees, selection stages, exam bars, and what each side actually publishes.
The short answer
As of July 2026, both are own-process Bangalore MBAs with no management quota. Christ publishes its full fee (Rs 5,70,000 to Rs 5,80,000 per year, Fee Structure 2026) and selects through GD, micro presentation, written assessment and interview. Jain CMS selects through JET but publishes no MBA tuition figure; confirm fees with its admissions office before comparing costs.
Christ University and Jain’s CMS Business School are the pair most Bangalore MBA applicants end up weighing against each other. Both are deemed-to-be universities. Both fill every seat through their own published selection process. Neither has a management quota, in writing. The real difference is in what each one publishes, and on the single number families care about most, only one of them publishes anything at all. This page puts the two side by side using only their official pages, the same standard we apply across our Bangalore MBA guide.
Are Christ and Jain CMS the same kind of college?
Structurally yes, which is exactly why the comparison is close. Christ was declared a deemed-to-be university in 2008 and holds NAAC A+ with a NIRF 2024 university rank of 60, per its official MBA 2026 brochure, which also states the MBA is NBA-accredited. Jain holds NAAC A++ with a CGPA of 3.71, per its homepage, which lists NBA accreditation for the MBA from 2022-23 up to 2024-25; no later NBA period is published there as of July 2026, so treat the current NBA status as unconfirmed by the university’s own pages.
The programmes are shaped differently. Christ’s MBA runs two years across 6 trimesters with 6 specialisations at the Bangalore Central Campus, per the official course page, which also notes selected candidates may be allotted the Central or Kengeri campus based on seat availability. Jain’s MBA runs two years across 4 semesters at CMS Business School on Sheshadri Road, with a long list of single and dual specialisations, including an ACCA-integrated finance track, per the official MBA Admission 2026 page.
Eligibility is the same headline at both: a recognised undergraduate degree with 50% aggregate, per each university’s official eligibility pages. Jain’s B-school FAQ adds a 45% relaxation for SC/ST candidates.
How do the two selection processes differ?
Both run their own multi-stage process, but the stages test different things. Christ’s published 2026 process has four components: a 25-minute group discussion plus a 90-second micro presentation, a written assessment of one A4 sheet in 10 minutes, a personal interview by an expert panel, and an assessment of Class 10, Class 12 and undergraduate marks, per the official MBA Selection 2026 page. The detail that surprises people is official: the same page states the minimum entrance score is only an eligibility criterion and the actual score has no bearing on selection. Your interview day matters more than your percentile. We walk through each stage in the Christ MBA selection process guide.
Jain runs JET, the university’s own process: an online written test of 120 questions, 120 marks, 120 minutes with no negative marking, followed by essay writing, a presentation and a personal interview, all three conducted in person only, per the official JET MBA page and the B-school FAQ. Selected candidates receive a Provisional Admission Letter, confirmed once admission criteria are fulfilled. The stage-by-stage detail is in the Jain CMS selection process guide.
Which exams get you in, and at what bar?
Christ requires one accepted national score; Jain requires none. For 2026 entry Christ accepted MAT (600+), CAT, XAT, CMAT or ATMA (60 percentile+), GMAT FOCUS (450+) and GRE (295+), per its official eligibility page. Those bars are gates, not rankings, because of the no-bearing rule above.
Jain’s JET written test is the default route, so a candidate with no national exam score can still apply. National scores matter only as exemptions from the written test: MAT 2026 at 550+, NMAT 2025-26 at 160+, or CAT 2025, GMAT 2025-26, CMAT 2026 or XAT 2026 at 50 percentile+, per the official JET MBA page. The exemption waives only the written test. The essay, presentation and interview remain mandatory for everyone.
Can you compare the fees head-to-head?
Only halfway, because only one side publishes a tuition figure. Christ’s is fully published: Rs 5,70,000 per year for Karnataka students and Rs 5,80,000 per year for other Indian states, identical in both years, so two-year totals of Rs 11,40,000 and Rs 11,60,000, per the Fee Structure 2026 table on the official course page (AY 2026-27). NRI candidates pay Rs 6,70,000 per year. Add a non-refundable Rs 8,000 admission registration fee. Year 1 is payable within seven days of the selection result. The full breakdown is in our Christ MBA fees page.
Jain CMS publishes no MBA tuition figure on any official page. The B-school FAQ says, for fee information, to contact the Admissions Office, and confirms instalment payment is offered. The only published Jain figure is the application fee of Rs 1,500, per the same FAQ. Aggregator sites print tuition ranges for CMS, but those figures appear on no official page, so we do not carry them, and we will not set a guessed number next to Christ’s official table. Confirm the current figure with the Jain admissions office or on the official MBA admission page before you compare costs. Our Jain CMS fees page explains what is and is not published.
One honest consequence: as of July 2026 you cannot make a written, like-for-like cost comparison between these two colleges. Anyone who quotes you a confident Jain “package” number is quoting something the university itself has not published.
Which college fits which profile?
Jain CMS fits the applicant with no national exam score; Christ fits the one who wants the full cost in writing before committing. Those are the published differences, not brand noise. Here is the decision table:
| Decision factor | Christ University | Jain CMS Business School |
|---|---|---|
| Degree and format | MBA, 2 years, 6 trimesters (course page, 2026-27) | MBA, 2 years, 4 semesters (MBA Admission 2026 page) |
| Entrance requirement | One accepted national score, eligibility-only | None required; JET written test is the default route |
| Selection stages | GD + micro presentation, written assessment, interview, academics | JET test (or exemption), essay, presentation, interview |
| Published tuition | Rs 5,70,000-5,80,000 per year (Fee Structure 2026) | Not published; confirm with Admissions Office |
| Application fee | Up to Rs 1,800, MBA figure not published (admission FAQ) | Rs 1,500 (B-school FAQ) |
| MBA scholarships | Karnataka fee already nets off a scholarship; MBA absent from the Merit Scholarship 2026-27 list | None for the MBA, per the B-school’s own FAQ |
| NAAC / NBA | A+; MBA NBA-accredited per the 2026 brochure | A++ (CGPA 3.71); NBA published for 2022-23 to 2024-25 only |
| Management quota | None; anti-capitation line on the course page | None; JET mandatory, no consultants or brokers, per the official FAQ |
If you have no national exam score and want one application to carry you, Jain’s JET route is the cleaner fit. If you want the total cost in writing before you commit, Christ is currently the only side of this pair that gives it to you.
What do agents claim about this pair, and what is true?
Agents sell both colleges the same way: a quota route for a fee. Both universities flatly contradict this in writing. Christ’s course page states the university does not collect any type of capitation or donation other than the fee mentioned on the website, and its pages publish no quota route of any kind; the full picture is in our Christ management quota page. Jain’s official JET FAQ answers the question directly: no admissions based on management quota, JET is mandatory, and the university has no affiliates, consultants or brokers for admissions.
So promises of a certain seat at either college describe a route that officially does not exist, and any payment beyond the published fee is capitation, which Karnataka’s 1984 Act punishes with 3 to 7 years’ imprisonment. The only doors in are the two processes described above.
How does Udaan help you choose between Christ and Jain CMS?
We put your profile against both published processes and tell you which one you can realistically clear this cycle: whether your MAT or CMAT score clears Christ’s eligibility gate, whether it earns a JET exemption at Jain, and how to prepare for the interview-heavy stages both colleges actually weigh. We help you get the Jain fee in writing from the admissions office before you decide, so you are comparing real numbers. We take no commissions, you pay every rupee to the college directly against its published fee structure, and if the honest answer is that neither college fits your profile or budget this year, we will tell you exactly that.

- Does Christ or Jain CMS have a management quota for MBA?
- Neither. Christ's MBA course page states the university does not collect any type of capitation or donation other than the fee mentioned on the website, and publishes no quota route. Jain's official JET MBA FAQ says CMS Business School does not offer admissions based on management quota, that JET is mandatory, and that the university has no affiliates, consultants or brokers.
- What is the Christ MBA fee compared to the Jain CMS fee?
- Christ publishes its figure: Rs 5,70,000 per year for Karnataka students and Rs 5,80,000 for other Indian states, per the official Fee Structure 2026 table. Jain CMS publishes no MBA tuition figure on any official page; its FAQ directs applicants to the Admissions Office. Confirm the current Jain figure directly before comparing costs.
- Can I get into either college without CAT?
- Yes, at both. Christ accepts MAT (600+), CMAT, XAT or ATMA (60 percentile), GMAT FOCUS (450+) or GRE (295+) alongside CAT, per its 2026 eligibility page, and states the score is only an eligibility criterion. Jain runs its own JET written test, so no national exam is required at all.
- Which college's exam bar is easier to clear?
- They work differently. Christ's bars (MAT 600, 60 percentile in CAT/XAT/CMAT/ATMA) are eligibility gates only; the official selection page says the actual score has no bearing on selection. Jain's bars (MAT 550, NMAT 160, 50 percentile in CAT/GMAT/CMAT/XAT) only exempt you from the JET written test; the essay, presentation and interview stay mandatory.
- How do the accreditations compare?
- Christ holds NAAC A+ and a NIRF 2024 university rank of 60, per its official MBA 2026 brochure, which also states the MBA is NBA-accredited. Jain holds NAAC A++ with CGPA 3.71 per its homepage, which lists NBA accreditation for the MBA from 2022-23 up to 2024-25; no later NBA period is published there as of July 2026.
- Are 2026 admissions still open at either college?
- Effectively no. Christ's Session III applications closed 6 May 2026 with results on 11 May, per its official pages. Jain's published 2026-28 schedule closed applications on 31 March 2026 with final results on 15 April. Watch both official admission pages for the 2027 cycle.
