What should you do now?

  1. If CAT 2026 is your plan: register on iimcat.ac.in before 5 pm tomorrow, 15 September — the portal rendered live today and the deadline is printed on it. After tomorrow, the next open doors are NMAT (registration to 10 October), SNAP (to 25 November) and XAT (to 6 December).
  2. If you are targeting IIM Ahmedabad: read the new 2027-29 policy's Table 4 before anything else — General/EWS needs 95 overall plus 85 in every section, and 35% of the shortlist composite rides on your 10th, 12th and graduation marks, not just CAT.
  3. If you are in Uttar Pradesh: MBA seats move through UPTAC counselling on CUET PG; the printed 15% management/NRI share at private colleges runs through the institution per government orders — never through an agent. Our new UP page has the brochure lines.
  4. If you are in Maharashtra without a CAP seat: institute-level and ACAP rounds are running now under observer and CCTV oversight; verify every vacancy claim on the college's own site and the CET Cell portal, never on a WhatsApp forward.
  5. If SNAP is in your plan: finish the application by 22 September to sit the first official mock on 24 September; registration proper stays open to 25 November.

The week’s biggest document is eight pages long and comes from Ahmedabad. IIM Ahmedabad has posted its Admission Policy for the PGP 2027-29 batch — the first 2027-29 policy from any IIM we have opened — with the General/EWS bar at 95 overall percentile plus 85 in each section, a shortlist composite that puts 35% weight on your academic record and work experience against 65% on the CAT percentile, and a final score where the interview alone carries half. Shortlists land in the second week of January 2027; offers in the second week of April 2027. Every other IIM policy we track is still a 2026-28 document; expect the rest to follow through the autumn.

The second unblock is Uttar Pradesh. After days of the counselling portal refusing our server, we read the state’s official UPTAC 2026-27 Information Brochure today — the prospectus the portal itself links — and the quota question now has a printed answer: 15% of sanctioned seats in private institutions for management-quota/NRI candidates, filled per government orders, with everything else through counselling on CUET PG 2026 at a Rs 1,000 registration. The calendar item is the sharpest of the season: CAT 2026 registration closes tomorrow, Tuesday 15 September, at 5 pm. We rendered the live portal today to confirm — admit cards follow on 4 November, the test on 29 November. If your plan depends on a 2026 CAT attempt, tomorrow 5 pm is the whole plan.

In Maharashtra, the vacant-seat machine is running under new oversight: the CET Cell’s 2 September circular puts government observers inside selected private-college ACAP rounds, mandates CCTV recording of verification and allotment rooms, and warns candidates in plain Marathi against agents promising seats before CAP ends. SIESCOMS ran its spot rounds on 13-14 September; similar schedules are running at MMS colleges across the state this week.

And SNAP students get one new date: the first official mock test runs 24 September, for candidates who complete their application by 22 September. Registration proper stays open to 25 November, with the three December test dates unchanged.
