What Changed in MBA Admissions: 19 September 2026
The short answer
On 19 September 2026: IIM Jammu's domain entered its ninth day unreachable, leaving the CAP 2026 portal dark; LPU's own site prints admissions 2026 closed for all programmes. IIT (ISM) Dhanbad's official fee circular makes it the cheapest IIT MBA mapped — Rs 1,16,400 payable at admission. Masters' Union's Rs 38,56,692 total held all week.
What changed?
| Item | Before | Now |
|---|---|---|
| IIM Jammu — ninth day dark, CAP 2026's host unreachable | iimjammu.ac.in and cap2026.iimj.ac.in DNS-dead through day 8; archive.org serving again but its API 429-rate-limiting, no 2026 captures of the domain | The domain still does not resolve today (NXDOMAIN on lookup, ninth consecutive day). The practical consequence stands: the CAP 2026 consortium portal that IIM Bodh Gaya's policy names as the joint-application route is hosted on IIM Jammu's domain, so the whole joint window waits on that DNS. Our CAP 2026 explainer and the three member-campus profiles carry the printed facts; nothing on them changes |
| LPU — the university's own banner says 2026 admissions are closed | No LPU profile on this site; the agent market sells LPU MBA seats year-round | The official MBA page runs the banner "ADMISSIONS 2026 CLOSED FOR ALL PROGRAMMES" (verified today) — the season's cleanest honest-counselor fact. Entry is LPUNEST, the university's own entrance-and-scholarship test; the printed tracks include EY, NSE and CII industry-collaborative MBAs. Profile published today with the fee as a disclosed portal-only item |
| IIT (ISM) Dhanbad — the seventh IIT management department, and the cheapest | Our IIT comparison covered six departments, Dhanbad unprofiled | The institute's own portal prints everything today: 120 seats (90 MBA + 30 Business Analytics) on CAT 2025, a 40/35/10/10/5 final score (interview heaviest), Rs 1,600/800 application — and the official 2026-27 fee circular (read from the rendered scan) prints tuition Rs 75,000 a semester with Rs 1,16,400 payable at admission: roughly Rs 3,85,500 across two years before mess, the lowest IIT MBA total we have mapped. Profile published; the six-department comparison now says seven |
| SICSR Pune — the budget Symbiosis door with the full 2027 calendar | No SICSR profile; our Symbiosis coverage ran SIBM Pune, SCMHRD, SIBM Bengaluru, SIBM Hyderabad | The institute prints its whole 2027-29 schedule to the day — SNAP closes 25 November 2026, SICSR's own form 16 January 2027, GE-PI 7-14 February, merit list 24 February — and a fee table whose instalment arithmetic matters: Rs 2,85,000 per SEMESTER (Rs 5,70,000 a year), the same per-annum-label-over-per-semester-instalment print pattern that hid SIBM Pune's real fee. Profile published today |
| UPES Dehradun — the printed 30% national-test clause | No UPES profile; aggregator pages quote fees freely | The official admissions page prints the two-lane structure: up to 30% of MBA seats filled through CAT/MAT/XAT/NMAT (CAT/XAT 50 percentile, MAT/CMAT 70, GMAT 400, NMAT 120 exempt you from UPESMET), the rest through the university's own test, everyone through GD-PI. The official fee page loads fees through an interactive selector that failed during verification — so the profile prints no tuition figure rather than an aggregator's guess |
| Masters' Union — the weekly fee watch holds | Rs 38,56,692 total (admission Rs 90,000 + tuition Rs 37,66,692), verified 12 September after the mid-cycle reprint upward | Re-opened today: the total stands at Rs 38,56,692, unchanged through the week. Round 1 closes 27 September 11:59 pm; the MU-BAAT window for Round 1 runs 28 September-4 October with interviews expected 7-15 October and decisions 18-19 October |
| AIMA December MAT — still no candidate schedule | AIMA's MAT page carried only the B-school-side December registration link as of 18 September | Re-checked today: the page still prints the September candidate schedule and the B-school registration link; no December dates. The December session page gets built the day AIMA prints them. September CBT sits tomorrow (20 September); scores due by the last week of September |
What should you do now?
- If anyone offers you an LPU MBA seat for this session: the university's own site says admissions 2026 are closed for all programmes. Treat the offer as a red flag and ask for the official portal trail in writing.
- If your CAT percentile sits in the 80s-90s: IIT (ISM) Dhanbad's 120-seat, interview-heavy process (PI 40%, CAT 35%) opens its form in late December by the printed pattern — a genuine IIT-brand MBA at roughly Rs 3.85 lakh total. Verify the 2027-28 window on the institute portal in December.
- If SNAP is your exam and budget matters: SICSR's second registration (16 January 2027) is a separate deadline from SNAP itself — diarise both, and read the fee as Rs 2,85,000 per semester, not per annum.
- If you hold a modest CAT/XAT/MAT score: UPES's printed exemption bars (CAT/XAT 50 percentile, MAT/CMAT 70) route you straight to GD-PI without its own test — but get the fee from the official fee page, not an aggregator.
- If Masters' Union is on your list: Round 1 closes 27 September — eight days out. The fee has printed Rs 38,56,692 all week; the early-bird benefit deadline behind it is 18 November.
