TAPMI vs IPE Hyderabad: One Year at Manipal Against Two Years in Hyderabad

TAPMI vs IPE Hyderabad: TAPMI's Rs 9,75,000-a-year tuition against IPE's Rs 9,15,000 two-year grand total — both official prospectuses re-read today.

The short answer

As of 10 October 2026, TAPMI's official prospectus prints tuition of Rs 9,75,000 per year across all seven MBA programmes, while IPE Hyderabad's prospectus prints a two-year grand total of Rs 9,15,000 with a laptop inside — one Manipal year costs more than the whole Hyderabad bill. IPE's printed merit-scholarship grid reaches down to the 50-percentile band. Both state there is no quota.

The sharpest budget contrast in our comparison series. TAPMI’s official prospectus prices tuition at Rs 9,75,000 per year. IPE Hyderabad’s official prospectus prices the whole two-year programme at Rs 9,15,000. Both documents were re-read today, 10 October 2026. One year at Manipal costs more than the entire Hyderabad bill — and yet both institutes belong on real shortlists, for different students.

Read the scopes honestly: TAPMI’s figure is tuition alone, before hostel and mess, so its real two-year bill sits higher still. IPE’s is the complete academic bill with a laptop inside. The gap is not a typo — it is the comparison.

IPE’s scholarship grid — the low-score friendliest print in this series

IPE’s prospectus prints its merit-scholarship grid in full, and it reaches lower than any grid we have verified. General category: 80-plus percentile on CAT, XAT or GMAT earns Rs 2,00,000; 70-79.99 earns Rs 1,00,000; 65-69.99 earns Rs 80,000; 60-64.99 earns Rs 60,000. OBC and SC/ST/Minority: the same amounts from 70-plus all the way down to 50-54.99 (Rs 60,000), with parallel CMAT/MAT/ATMA columns. Designated states (Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh) get their own grid, and sports scholarships print at Rs 4,00,000 for international and Rs 2,00,000 for national participation. One scholarship per student; the institute’s committee decides. For a candidate in the 50-70 band, this page is the difference between a scholarship and a rejection elsewhere.

TAPMI’s bands — and its Fast-Track

TAPMI’s process is printed with equal clarity, aimed higher. The core MBA asks above 90 percentile (CAT/XAT/GMAT) from candidates with under 11 months of work experience, above 80 for 12-23 months, and runs profile-based shortlisting from 24 months up. Final selection weights Entrance 35% + Academics 15% + GD/WAT/PI 45% + Gender-diversity-and-extracurricular 5%, with GD-PI at seven cities. Outstanding applicants can receive a Fast-Track offer within 48-72 hours of interview. Applications for 2026-28 ran 15 October 2025 to 27 January 2026.

The quota question, answered from print

TAPMI’s admissions page carries the sentence: “There is no Management Quota at TAPMI.” IPE prints no donation route anywhere in its prospectus. This pair is a clean fraud test in both directions — a priced TAPMI seat contradicts TAPMI’s own line, and an IPE “capitation fee” invents a route its prospectus does not contain.

Who should pick which

  • Pick TAPMI if your percentile clears its printed bands and the brand, the Manipal ecosystem and the larger platform justify roughly Rs 19.5 lakh of tuition plus residence. The Fast-Track route suits candidates holding competing offers.
  • Pick IPE if your score sits in the 50-70 band (its scholarship grid was printed for you), the family budget is firm, or Hyderabad’s location works. A Rs 9,15,000 all-in bill with a possible Rs 60,000-2,00,000 scholarship is the sanest balance sheet in this series.
  • Either way — both prospectuses were re-read today. Budget on these numbers, and ask anyone quoting different ones which document they are reading.

Straight answers

Which is cheaper, TAPMI or IPE Hyderabad?
It is not close on print. TAPMI's official prospectus, re-read 10 October 2026, prices tuition at Rs 9,75,000 per year — about Rs 19.5 lakh across two years before hostel, mess and the Rs 20,000 alumni fee. IPE Hyderabad's prospectus prices the entire two years at Rs 9,15,000, caution deposit and a laptop inside. One year at TAPMI costs more than the whole IPE bill. The honest follow-up: the two brands, cohorts and recruiter mixes are not the same product — read the rest of this page before the gap decides.
What percentile do I need for TAPMI and for IPE?
TAPMI prints work-experience-banded bars for its core MBA: above 90 percentile (CAT/XAT/GMAT) if your experience is under 11 months, above 80 for 12-23 months, and profile-based shortlisting from 24 months up. IPE publishes no minimum percentile at all — but its merit-scholarship grid tells you where its market sits: General-category awards start at 60-64.99 percentile (Rs 60,000) and rise to Rs 2,00,000 at 80-plus, with OBC and SC/ST grids reaching down to 50-54.99. A 55-70 percentile candidate is a scholarship candidate at IPE and below TAPMI's printed floor.
Does IPE Hyderabad really give scholarships at 50-60 percentile?
In print, yes. The IPE Admissions Prospectus 2026-28 prints the grid: for OBC and SC/ST/Minority candidates, a CAT, XAT or GMAT percentile of 50-54.99 earns Rs 60,000, 55-59.99 earns Rs 80,000, 60-69.99 earns Rs 1,00,000 and 70-plus earns Rs 2,00,000. General-category awards run 60-64.99 (Rs 60,000) to 80-plus (Rs 2,00,000), with parallel CMAT/MAT/ATMA columns. One scholarship per student, decided by the institute's internal committee. That is the most low-score-friendly printed scholarship grid in our comparison series.
Is there a management quota at TAPMI or IPE?
TAPMI answers in so many words: 'There is no Management Quota at TAPMI.' IPE admits through national entrance scores plus its own interview process and prints no donation route. This pair is a useful fraud test in both directions: anyone selling a priced TAPMI seat is contradicting TAPMI's own sentence, and anyone charging a 'capitation' for IPE is inventing a route its prospectus does not print.
TAPMI's Fast-Track admit — what is it?
TAPMI's admissions page describes a Fast-Track route for outstanding applicants: selected candidates receive the offer letter within 48-72 hours of their interview. It is a speed commitment on the normal merit process, not a separate door — same exams, same GD/WAT/PI, same final weights (Entrance 35%, Academics 15%, GD/WAT/PI 45%, diversity 5%).
Which should I prefer — TAPMI or IPE Hyderabad?
On documents: if your percentile sits above TAPMI's printed bands and the brand, cohort size and Manipal ecosystem justify roughly Rs 19.5 lakh of tuition, TAPMI is the bigger platform. If your score is in the 50-70 band, or the family budget is firm, IPE's Rs 9,15,000 all-in bill plus a printed scholarship you may already qualify for is the saner balance sheet. Both are AICTE-recognised, both publish real processes — the decision is brand-versus-budget, and it should be made on numbers like these, not on an agent's brochure.
