Selection process

Is there a management quota here?
No. IIM Ranchi is an Institute of National Importance whose published admission criteria are fully mechanical: CAT cut-offs, the Common Admission Process interview, and a printed consolidated merit list with component weights down to the sub-score. The official criteria document and the signed fee notice, both opened on 8 September 2026, contain no institute-level, management or NRI channel for domestic candidates — the only published supernumerary route is for foreign passport holders, on test-centre GMAT or GRE scores.
Indian Institute of Management Ranchi runs the most quant-tilted merit arithmetic we have mapped at an IIM: of the 65 points CAT carries in the consolidated merit list, 35 ride on the Quantitative Aptitude section alone — Verbal and DILR carry 15 each. A candidate whose CAT score is built on quant strength holds a structural edge here that no interview can erase.
What should an applicant plan for?
A published floor of 95 overall for General candidates (75 in each section), with EWS and NC-OBC at 81, SC at 66 and ST/DAP at 42 — and the document’s own honesty that these cut-offs are “just indicative”. The interview is not IIM Ranchi’s alone: it is the Common Admission Process, one physical PI shared across the participating IIMs (CAP 2025 was coordinated by IIM Bodh Gaya), so a single interview performance feeds multiple merit lists.
