IIM Rohtak vs IIM Ranchi: the flat 97 against the JAP partner
IIM Rohtak vs IIM Ranchi: the solo 97-flat bar against the JAP partner's signed Rs 19,20,000 fee, Rs 17,90,000 against about Rs 20.9 lakh all-in — documents read today.
The short answer
As of 21 October 2026, IIM Rohtak gates registration at a flat CAT 97 percentile against IIM Ranchi's most recent published table of 95 with 75 sectionals — Ranchi now admits through JAP 2026. Rohtak's printed fee is Rs 17,90,000; Ranchi's signed Rs 19,20,000 plus mess reaches about Rs 20,90,100. Rohtak's website is down a third day; its PDFs were re-read via mirror.
The highest flat bar in the new-IIM series against one of the cheapest JAP doors. IIM Rohtak gates registration at a flat CAT 97 percentile and prints a Rs 17,90,000 fee. IIM Ranchi’s most recent published table reads 95 with 75 sectionals, and its signed fee of Rs 19,20,000 becomes about Rs 20,90,100 once the mess bills count. Rohtak’s website has been unreachable from our vantage for three consecutive days, so its PDFs were re-read today, 21 October 2026, through the extraction mirror — disclosed, and re-verification on the direct site follows when it returns. Ranchi’s documents were re-read today directly.
The two bills, side by side

| Structure | Rs 3,55,000 + Rs 2,70,000 + Rs 2,70,000 a year | Term 1 Rs 3,45,000; Terms 2-6 Rs 3,15,000 |
| Components printed | Term charges only | Acceptance Rs 1,10,000 (adjusted as Term-1 tuition) + tuition Rs 17,80,000 + caution Rs 20,000 + alumni Rs 10,000 |

The honest label: Rohtak is the cheaper bill by roughly Rs 2 lakh once both mess lines count — and its fee document covers the current 2026-28 cycle, while Ranchi’s signed table is the 2025-27 one, the most recent the institute has published.
The 97 wall against the JAP door
Rohtak prints the steepest entry gate in this comparison series: General 97 flat — EWS 93, NC-OBC 83, SC 60, ST 50 — with no gender concession beneath it, then a solo five-stage process with its own Rs 3,095 registration window from 26 December 2025 to 9 January 2026. Ranchi’s last published campus table (8 May 2025, the CAP era) printed General 95 with 75 sectionals; this cycle Ranchi admits through JAP 2026, so the operative shortlist travels with the joint process IIM Raipur hosts. The practical read: at 95-96.9 percentile, Ranchi’s door is the only one of the two that print has ever opened; at 97 and above, both are live, and the decision moves to formula and fee.
The formulas — the diversity block against the section-weighted CAT
Rohtak’s final list is three printed blocks: CAT percentile 60%, Personal Interview 20%, academic-plus-gender diversity 20% — the policy states plainly that the diversity block exists to balance a classroom that would otherwise skew male and engineering-heavy. Ranchi’s most recent published formula scored the CAT at 65% broken by section (Verbal 15, Quantitative 35, DILR 15 of scaled maximums), Profile 20% and PI/WAT 15%, with 5 bonus marks for gender diversity; under JAP 2026 the common policy now governs. A quant-heavy candidate reads Ranchi’s old 35%-quant block kindly; a candidate whose strength is profile breadth reads Rohtak’s 40% non-CAT block kindly.
The quota question, answered from print
Neither institute prints any management, institutional or discretionary route — no IIM does. Rohtak’s policy adds the sharpest anti-fraud line in the series: offers arrive only from [email protected], and an offer from any other address is invalid. Both admit through CAT under Government of India reservation law; an agent quoting a priced seat at either campus is selling fraud.
Who should pick which
- Pick Rohtak if you hold a 97-plus percentile, want the lower all-in bill by about Rs 2 lakh, and carry the academic or gender diversity its 20-mark block rewards. Note the process is solo — a separate form, fee and interview from the JAP set.
- Pick Ranchi if your percentile sits in the 95-96.9 band where only its door has printed open, or if the JAP registration already covers your other targets — one form reaches Ranchi, Raipur, Kashipur and Trichy.
- Either way — read each campus’s own document, not an aggregator: Rohtak’s printed cycle is current but its site is down for re-verification at the moment (mirror reads disclosed), and Ranchi’s campus table is last cycle’s with JAP 2026 governing this one.

- Which is cheaper, IIM Rohtak or IIM Ranchi?
- Rohtak, on every printed line re-read 21 October 2026. Rohtak's fee PDF prints Rs 17,90,000 for the two years with mess at Rs 48,000 a year outside — about Rs 18,86,000 with both years' mess, before the small placement, development, alumni and caution lines. Ranchi's signed 2025-27 PDF prints Rs 19,20,000 excluding mess, and the mess line at about Rs 28,350 a term adds Rs 1,70,100 over six terms — an all-in near Rs 20,90,100. The honest gap is roughly Rs 2 lakh in Rohtak's favour.
- What CAT percentile do IIM Rohtak and IIM Ranchi need?
- Rohtak prints the highest flat bar in this series: General 97 with no gender split (EWS 93, NC-OBC 83, SC 60, ST 50). Ranchi's most recent published table — the 8 May 2025 CAP-era criteria — prints General 95 overall with 75 in each section; this cycle Ranchi admits through JAP 2026, whose portal IIM Raipur hosts, so the operative table is the JAP one. Read Ranchi's 95/75 as the last printed campus bar, not this cycle's promise.
- Is the admission process shared between IIM Rohtak and IIM Ranchi?
- No. Ranchi admits through JAP 2026 — one registration on the portal IIM Raipur hosts, one common shortlist with Kashipur and Trichy, one joint Personal Interview. Rohtak runs a solo five-stage process with its own registration window (26 December 2025 to 9 January 2026, Rs 3,095) and its own interview. A candidate can hold both, but they are separate applications with separate fees.
- How is the final merit list computed at each?
- Rohtak prints three blocks: CAT percentile 60%, Personal Interview 20%, and academic-plus-gender diversity 20% — the heaviest diversity weight in this series, which the policy states exists to balance a classroom that would otherwise skew male and engineering-heavy. Ranchi's last published formula scored CAT at 65% by section (Verbal 15, Quant 35, DILR 15 of scaled maximums), Profile 20% and PI/WAT 15%, with 5 bonus marks for gender diversity; under JAP 2026 the common policy governs.
- Is there a management quota at IIM Rohtak or IIM Ranchi?
- Neither prints one — an IIM seat is not purchasable. Rohtak's policy warns that offers arrive only from [email protected] and that any other offer is invalid. Both admit through CAT under Government of India reservation law; anyone quoting a priced seat at either institute is describing fraud.
- Which should I prefer — IIM Rohtak or IIM Ranchi?
- On documents, the decision splits on the bar and the bill. Rohtak is about Rs 2 lakh cheaper all-in and runs the heavier diversity block, but gates at a flat 97 with no concession beneath it. Ranchi's last printed bar (95 with sectionals) and the JAP shortlist give more candidates a look-in, at the higher all-in bill. A 97-plus candidate should hold both; a 95-96.9 candidate's printed door is Ranchi's.
