IIM Rohtak vs IIM Udaipur: Two Solo Doors, the 97 Bar Against the 94

IIM Rohtak vs IIM Udaipur: Rs 17.90 lakh against the residential Rs 21.51 lakh, the 97-flat bar against the 94 invitation — from official documents read today.

The short answer

As of 10 October 2026, IIM Rohtak's programme fee stands at Rs 17,90,000 — re-verified today on the institute's restored website after two days down — against IIM Udaipur's printed six-term Rs 21,51,258 with hostel and mess inside. Rohtak prints a 97-flat General CAT bar and a 60/20/20 formula; Udaipur invites at 94 and scores the CAT itself at 55%.

No JAP pool, no CAP round — these two run their own gates end to end. IIM Rohtak’s Batch 17 programme fee stands at Rs 17,90,000; IIM Udaipur’s printed six-term table totals Rs 21,51,258 with hostel and mess inside. Udaipur’s pages were re-read today, 8 October 2026. Rohtak’s admission policy was re-read the same day through the extraction mirror while the institute’s website was unreachable — the site returned on 10 October, and the fee PDF was re-downloaded and re-verified that day: every line of the Rs 17,90,000 holds. The printed gap is about Rs 3.6 lakh, and the printed bars are 97 against 94.

The honest label: Rs 3.6 lakh apart, but structure-first — Udaipur’s figure is the residential all-in with hostel and mess inside every term, while Rohtak’s is the programme fee with its own mess and charge lines. Rohtak’s number was re-verified on 10 October 2026: after two days unreachable, iimrohtak.ac.in returned, the signed fee PDF was re-downloaded, and the Rs 17,90,000 stands exactly as first read on 10 September 2026.

The bars: 97 flat against the 94 invitation

Rohtak prints the highest flat General bar in the newer-IIM class — 97 overall, with no published sectional split, stepping through EWS 93 and NC-OBC 83 down to ST 50, plus a full DAP ladder (87/83/73/50/40). Udaipur prints General 94 overall with 75 sectionals (EWS 81, NC-OBC 81, SC 66, ST and DAP 42) — and its mechanism differs in kind: clearing the table earns an invitation email to complete online registration, which is a pre-interview requirement, not an interview call. Both institutes print that the bars can move to size the interview pool. Three points of percentile separate the two gates; the systems on either side of them differ more.

The formulas: diversity-heavy against CAT-heavy

Rohtak’s final selection: CAT percentile 60%, Personal Interview 20%, and a combined academic-and-gender diversity block 20% — the heaviest diversity weight in this comparison series, and the policy states plainly that the institute acts to correct a skew toward male, engineering graduates. Udaipur’s final merit: normalised CAT score 55%, PI 25%, profile 20% (academics 6, work experience 6, diversity 8) — with the policy spelling out that “the CAT Score would be used and not the CAT Percentile”, normalised against the maximum score among candidates who applied to IIMU and attended the PI. The practical reading: diversity candidates get the bigger structural lift at Rohtak; a big raw CAT score and a strong interview travel further at Udaipur, where the interview is worth a quarter of the final.

The logistics that decide whether you are in the room

Both are solo doors, so each needs its own form. Rohtak’s registration window is printed tentatively — 26 December 2025 to 9 January 2026, Rs 3,095 non-refundable — opening the day after the CAT 2025 result declaration window. Udaipur’s registration is by invitation email after the result, with the PI at Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and the Udaipur campus in forenoon and afternoon sessions, and work experience counted to 31 January 2026. Rohtak seats 264 against Udaipur’s planned 375. Miss either institute’s own form and the CAT score alone reaches neither.

The quota question, answered from print

Neither institute prints any management, institutional or discretionary route — no IIM does. Rohtak’s policy adds the season’s most useful anti-fraud sentence: every genuine offer arrives signed by the Controller of Examinations from [email protected], and any offer from another address is invalid. An agent quoting a priced seat at either campus is selling the thing that sentence exists to warn about.

Who should pick which

  • Pick Rohtak if you are a female or non-engineering candidate — its 20-mark diversity block is the largest structural advantage between these two — you clear the 97-flat bar, and the lower bill matters. Re-check the fee on the institute’s own site once it is reachable again.
  • Pick Udaipur if your CAT paper itself is your strength — the 55% weight runs on the normalised score, not the percentile — you want the heavier 25% interview, the fully residential printed bill, or the printed financial-assistance line below Rs 6,00,000 household income.
  • Apply to both if you clear both bars: two solo registrations, two formulas that reward different profiles, and no shared stage to save you a form.

Straight answers

Which is cheaper, IIM Rohtak or IIM Udaipur?
IIM Rohtak, by about Rs 3.6 lakh on the documents as they stand 10 October 2026. Rohtak's Batch 17 programme fee is Rs 17,90,000, re-verified today on the institute's restored website after two days down — the signed PDF was re-downloaded and every line holds. Udaipur's printed six-term table totals Rs 21,51,258, but that number has hostel (Rs 25,000-26,250 a term) and mess (Rs 24,255-28,298 a term) inside every term — it is the residential all-in, not a bare tuition figure. The comparison is fair only with that structure in mind.
What CAT percentile do IIM Rohtak and IIM Udaipur need?
Rohtak prints the highest flat bar in the newer-IIM class: General 97 overall with no published sectional split (EWS 93, NC-OBC 83, SC 60, ST 50, and a DAP ladder from 87 down to 40). Udaipur's table prints General 94 overall with 75 in every section (EWS 81, NC-OBC 81, SC 66, ST and DAP 42) — and meeting it earns an invitation email to register, not an interview call. One honesty note: both institutes reserve the right to move these bars to fill the interview pool.
How do the two final merit formulas differ?
Rohtak weights the CAT percentile at 60%, the Personal Interview at 20%, and a combined academic-plus-gender diversity block at 20% — the heaviest diversity block in this series. Udaipur weights the normalised CAT score at 55%, the PI at 25%, and profile at 20% (academics 6, work experience 6, diversity 8) — and its policy spells out that the CAT SCORE, not the CAT percentile, feeds the 55%. A candidate's raw CAT marks, not just their percentile rank, move the Udaipur merit list.
Is the application process different for IIM Rohtak and IIM Udaipur?
Both are solo doors — neither sits in JAP 2026 or CAP 2026, so each needs its own registration. Rohtak's window is printed tentatively as 26 December 2025 to 9 January 2026 with a Rs 3,095 registration fee, straight after the CAT 2025 result. Udaipur's registration is invitation-based: clear the cut-off table and the Admission Office emails you the link, with the PI at Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai or the Udaipur campus. Miss either institute's own form and your CAT score alone reaches neither.
Is there a management quota at IIM Rohtak or IIM Udaipur?
Neither prints one — an IIM seat is not purchasable. Rohtak's policy warns that every genuine offer arrives signed by the Controller of Examinations from [email protected] alone, and calls offers from any other address invalid. Anyone quoting a priced seat at either institute is describing fraud; verify on the official websites.
Which should I prefer — IIM Rohtak or IIM Udaipur?
On documents, profile-first. If you are a female or non-engineering candidate, Rohtak's 20-mark diversity block is the largest structural advantage on offer between the two, and its bill prints Rs 3.6 lakh lower. If your strength is the CAT paper itself, Udaipur's 55% weight on the normalised score rewards raw marks, its PI is worth more (25 against 20), its bill is fully residential with hostel and mess inside, and its financial-assistance line (household income below Rs 6,00,000) is printed. Rohtak's fee was re-verified on its restored site on 10 October 2026 — either way, confirm the current figure on the institute's own page before committing.
