IIM Rohtak vs IIM Visakhapatnam: the flat 97 and the cheapest bill against the interview machine

IIM Rohtak vs IIM Visakhapatnam: a flat 97 bar and Rs 17,90,000 against an 82-overall door with a 48/100 interview and Rs 23,58,590 — mirror reads disclosed.

The short answer

As of 23 October 2026, IIM Rohtak's flat General-97 bar and the series' cheapest printed bill — Rs 17,90,000 — face IIM Visakhapatnam's 82-overall door with the 48/100 interview at Rs 23,58,590. Rohtak's site was unreachable a fifth day; its figures stand from 21 October mirror reads, disclosed. Vizag's pages were re-read today.

The cheapest printed IIM bill in this series faces the lowest printed bar — and they are not the same door. IIM Rohtak asks a flat General-97 and prints Rs 17,90,000; IIM Visakhapatnam shortlists at 82 overall, hands 48 of 100 final points to the interview, and prints Rs 23,58,590 before its extras. Roughly Rs 6.6 lakh separates the two honest all-in bills — the widest price gap between any two new-gen IIMs we have priced. Vizag’s official pages were re-read today, 23 October 2026. Rohtak’s website has been unreachable from our vantage for a fifth consecutive day (HTTP 000 on every scheme tried); its side of this page stands from the Batch-17 policy and fee PDFs captured in this week’s mirror reads, disclosed — and will be re-verified the day the site returns.

The honest label: Rohtak is the budget door of the entire new-gen IIM set in print; Vizag is the most expensive of the group once its per-term advance counts. The gap, about Rs 6.6 lakh all-in, would cover a third of Rohtak’s whole bill again.

The widest bar gap mapped here

Rohtak’s Batch-17 policy prints a flat General bar of 97 — no sectional gates (EWS 93, NC-OBC 83, SC 60, ST 50, DAP-General 87) — the highest first filter in the new-gen series. Vizag prints General 82 overall with 70 sectionals (EWS/NC-OBC 72, SC 50, ST/PwD 40), the lowest. Fifteen percentile points separate the doors at the first cut: the candidate Vizag’s bar welcomes at 85 has no printed path at Rohtak, and the 97-plus candidate Rohtak shortlists clears Vizag’s bar without noticing it.

Mirror-image formulas

Rohtak’s final merit, from the Batch-17 policy: CAT percentile 60%, PI 20%, academic-and-gender diversity 20% — the test writes three-fifths of the outcome, and the process runs five solo stages on Rohtak’s own portal. Vizag’s final, printed to the mark: PI 48, CAT 25, Class X 4, XII 4, Bachelor’s 4, gender diversity 5, work experience 10 — the interview writes nearly half, and the institute can import the average of a candidate’s IIM Bangalore, Kozhikode, Lucknow or Indore PI scores in place of its own. Rohtak’s machine rewards the tested score; Vizag’s rewards the interviewee. The same profile can rank very differently across the two.

The quota question, answered from print

Neither institute prints any management, institutional or discretionary route — no IIM does. Both admit through CAT 2025 and their own solo published processes under Government of India reservation law. Rohtak’s policy prints the anti-fraud tell in writing: offers come only from [email protected]. An agent quoting a priced seat at either campus is selling fraud; the official pages are the verification.

Who should pick which

  • Pick Rohtak if you carry a 97-plus percentile and want the cheapest printed IIM bill mapped anywhere here — Rs 17,90,000 — with a final formula where the CAT percentile does 60% of the work. Note its own registration window: 26 December 2025 to 9 January 2026, Rs 3,095.
  • Pick Vizag if your percentile sits in the 82-96 band — Rohtak’s door is closed to you in print — or if you interview well: a 48-weight PI is the largest single lever in this series.
  • Either way — both are solo doors outside JAP and CAP, so one CAT 2025 registration can hold both. One caveat to carry: Rohtak’s site has been down five days as of 23 October 2026, so re-verify its figures on iimrohtak.ac.in when it returns; Vizag’s pages were re-read today.

Straight answers

Which is cheaper, IIM Rohtak or IIM Visakhapatnam?
Rohtak by the widest margin in this series — and it is the cheaper door in absolute print. Rohtak's fee document prints Rs 17,90,000 for the two years, with mess at Rs 48,000 a year billed separately — an honest all-in near Rs 18.9 lakh. Vizag prints Rs 23,58,590, then adds a Rs 40,000 caution deposit and a Rs 25,000-per-term mess/AC advance — about Rs 25.5 lakh all-in. The gap is roughly Rs 6.6 lakh, the largest between any two new-gen IIMs we have priced.
What CAT percentile do IIM Rohtak and IIM Visakhapatnam need?
Opposite ends of the printed spectrum. Rohtak's Batch-17 policy prints a flat General bar of 97 with no sectional gates (EWS 93, NC-OBC 83, SC 60, ST 50, DAP-General 87). Vizag prints General 82 overall with 70 sectionals (EWS/NC-OBC 72, SC 50, ST/PwD 40) — the lowest first-shortlist bar in this series. Fifteen percentile points separate the two doors at the first cut.
Is the admission process shared between the two?
No — both run solo, outside JAP 2026 and CAP 2026. Rohtak runs its own five-stage process with its own registration window (26 December 2025 to 9 January 2026, Rs 3,095, on its own portal). Vizag runs its own three-phase process with a scored detailed application after the first shortlist. One CAT registration can hold both, but each institute's post-CAT paperwork is separate.
How is the final merit list computed at each?
Mirror-image machines. Rohtak reads the CAT percentile at 60% of the final, the PI at 20%, and academic-and-gender diversity at 20% — the test decides three-fifths. Vizag reads the interview at 48 of 100, the CAT at 25, work experience at 10, and school/college marks at 12 — the interview decides nearly half, and it can even import the average of your IIM Bangalore, Kozhikode, Lucknow or Indore PI scores instead of interviewing you itself.
Is there a management quota at IIM Rohtak or IIM Visakhapatnam?
Neither prints one — an IIM seat is not purchasable. Both admit on CAT 2025 through their own published solo processes under Government of India reservation law. Rohtak's policy adds the anti-fraud tell in writing: offers come only from [email protected]. Anyone quoting a priced seat at either institute is describing fraud; verify on the official websites.
Which should I prefer — IIM Rohtak or IIM Visakhapatnam?
On documents, they serve opposite candidates. Rohtak suits the high-percentile aspirant who wants the cheapest printed IIM bill in this series — Rs 17,90,000 — and a final where the CAT percentile does 60% of the work. Vizag suits the mid-percentile candidate who interviews well: the 82-overall bar is the lowest printed door here, and the 48-weight PI can carry a strong interviewee past higher scorers. One honest caveat: Rohtak's website has been unreachable from our vantage for five days as of 23 October 2026, so its figures are mirror-read and disclosed — re-verify on iimrohtak.ac.in when it returns.
