ATMA Exam for MBA Admissions: Multiple Sessions a Year, Rs 2,000 Fee, Verified Schedule

Why ATMA matters if you missed the bigger exams

Most Indian MBA entrance exams give you one shot a year. ATMA — the AIMS Test for Management Admissions, run by the Association of Indian Management Schools — gives you several. If your CAT, XAT or state-CET attempt did not land where you needed, ATMA is one of the few doors still open in the same admission year, at a fee of Rs 2,000 rather than a coaching-package price.

The 9 August session’s full lifecycle is on the apply portal: payment and registration from 13 July 2026, payment gateway closing 2 August (23:59), applications closing 3 August (17:00), admit cards from 5 August (17:00), test on 9 August, results 12 August 2026. Reporting time is 1:00 PM, one hour before the test.

The next sessions after publication of this page will be announced on apply.atmaaims.com. That portal’s countdown banners are live and authoritative; treat any other site’s “ATMA last date” as unverified until you see it there.

Fees: Rs 2,000, all-in, per session

The e-bulletin fixes the registration fee at INR 2,000 inclusive of GST at 18%. You pay first, receive a Personal Identification (PID), and then complete the application. Because each session is a fresh registration, budget Rs 2,000 per attempt — a second session is a second payment, which is still cheaper than most alternatives’ total cost of a missed year.

The test itself

Per the e-bulletin: 180 questions across six sections, three hours, covering Analytical Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal skills. Sections can be attempted in any order — a small but real tactical freedom that single-section exams do not allow. The test is online.

Who accepts the score

ATMA appears in AICTE’s Approval Process Handbook list of entrance tests that approved PGDM/MBA institutes may use, alongside CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, GMAT and state CETs. Which of those an individual institute actually accepts is its own published choice — always confirm on the institute’s admission page before you spend the Rs 2,000. The honest limits

ATMA’s frequency is its strength and its limit. The score is accepted widely but not universally — the top tier (IIMs, XLRI, and most of the elite PGDM names) does not use it. If your target list is that tier, ATMA is not your door; see CAT 2026 or XAT 2027. If your list is the broad, AICTE-approved middle where most real MBA seats actually are — and where our low-CAT-score options page points many families — ATMA’s multiple sessions make it the most forgiving calendar in Indian MBA admissions.

One more honest limit: no exam, ATMA included, converts into a guaranteed or merit-free seat. If a consultant tells you ATMA “plus our process” gets you a seat regardless of score, read our seat-blocking scams page before replying.

What to do now

Check the apply portal for the next open session. If it is open and your target institutes accept ATMA, register and pay the Rs 2,000 — the process is entirely online.
