IIM Jammu vs Bodh Gaya vs Sirmaur: One CAP Interview, Three Different Machines
IIM Jammu vs Bodh Gaya vs IIM Sirmaur: one CAP 2026 interview, three printed fees (Rs 22.81L, Rs 17.96L, Rs 21L) and three different formulas.
The short answer
As of 4 October 2026, the three CAP 2026 IIMs print two-year fees of Rs 22,80,756 (Jammu), Rs 17,96,000 (Bodh Gaya) and Rs 21,00,000 (Sirmaur, 2026 admissions portal). One joint CAP interview feeds all three; each campus then applies its own formula — Jammu weighs CAT 42, PI 30, profile 28; Bodh Gaya 50/25/25; Sirmaur CAT 35, PI 20 plus profile.
Three IIMs, one interview, and three genuinely different machines underneath. IIM Jammu, IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Sirmaur are the CAP 2026 consortium: you clear the printed CAT minimums, sit one common offline Personal Interview, and then each campus ranks you with its own formula and bills you its own fee — Rs 22,80,756 at Jammu, Rs 17,96,000 at Bodh Gaya, Rs 21,00,000 at Sirmaur. Every figure below comes from official documents opened today, 4 October 2026.
The three bills, side by side
| IIM Jammu (2026-28) | IIM Bodh Gaya (2026-28) | IIM Sirmaur (2026-28) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two-year fee | Rs 22,80,756 | Rs 17,96,000 | Rs 21,00,000 |
| Year split | Rs 11,37,378 + Rs 11,43,378 | Rs 8,98,000 + Rs 8,98,000 | Rs 11,02,500 + Rs 9,97,500 |
| Tuition | Rs 2,39,635 × 6 terms | Rs 1,60,000 × 6 terms | Rs 2,92,500 a term (Rs 2,90,000 in Terms 5-6) |
| Refundable deposit | Rs 50,000 caution | Rs 25,000 caution | Rs 30,000 caution |
| On acceptance | Rs 50,000, adjusts against Term I | Rs 20,000 EOI deposit | Inside the Rs 1,00,000 admission fee in Term I |
| Mess | On actuals | Refundable per-term deposit (Rs 26,000 first, then Rs 21,000) | As applicable |
One label to keep honest: Sirmaur’s Rs 21,00,000 is the 2026-28 figure from the institute’s 2026 admissions portal, read 9 September 2026 — the portal was unreachable from this host today, and the main site’s fee page still prints the outgoing 2025-27 table at Rs 20,00,000. Read Rs 21 lakh as the current-batch figure and confirm in the offer letter.
One interview, three formulas
This is the part aggregators flatten into a single “CAP cutoff” — and it is where the decision actually lives.
IIM Jammu is the profile campus. Its final formula reads CAT percentile 42, PI 30, profile 28 — academics 10 (Class 10: 2, Class 12: 3, graduation 5), work experience 10, gender diversity 8. More than a quarter of your result sits outside the exam hall, which is why a strong profile survives a weaker CAT rank there. Its shortlist table is gender-split: General male 91 overall with 72 sectionals, female 89 with 71.
IIM Bodh Gaya is the CAT campus. The final merit list is scaled CAT score 50%, PI 25%, profile 25% (academics 15, work experience 10) — half your fate is the test itself, and the policy is explicit that it uses the scaled score, not the percentile. Its reference cut-off table prints General 95 with 75 sectionals, with the operational shortlist set after the CAT result.
IIM Sirmaur is the work-experience campus. Its composite reads CAT 35, PI 20, academics 15, work experience 20 — the heaviest experience block of the three, peaking at 23-35 months — plus 5 for gender diversity and a 5-point ‘Trailblazer’ bonus for engineering, medical, design, architecture, pharmacy and CA/CMA/CS backgrounds. It also prints the market’s clearest gender concession (General male 90, female 85) and runs the female-only Supernumerary Admission Process inside CAP.
Who should pick which
- Pick Jammu if your profile is stronger than your percentile — consistent academics, real work experience, or you benefit from the 8-point gender-diversity block — and you want the campus with the freshest official placement report (2024-26: average Rs 16.47 lakh, median Rs 15.00 lakh, 260+ organisations).
- Pick Bodh Gaya if your CAT score is your weapon and the budget matters: half the final score is the test, and at Rs 17,96,000 it is the cheapest of the three by a clear Rs 3-4.8 lakh.
- Pick Sirmaur if you carry 2-3 years of work experience (20 points), or you are a female candidate reading the plainest printed concession in this consortium — 85 against the male 90, with the SAP channel beside it.
- Either way — the three share one CAT and one interview. Registering for CAP 2026 costs you one form and one travel plan; the formulas then work for you differently at each campus. And if an agent offers a priced seat at any of the three, all three institutes’ own documents, opened today, print exactly one route: CAT, the CAP minimums, the joint interview, merit.

- Do IIM Jammu, Bodh Gaya and Sirmaur really share one interview?
- Yes — all three are the CAP 2026 consortium. You clear each institute's printed CAT minimums, attend one common offline Personal Interview run by the Common Admission Process (IIM Jammu hosts the portal), and then each campus builds its own merit list with its own formula: Jammu weighs CAT 42, PI 30 and profile 28; Bodh Gaya weighs the scaled CAT score 50, PI 25 and profile 25; Sirmaur weighs CAT 35, PI 20, academics 15, work experience 20 and diversity points. One interview, three different answers.
- Which of the three CAP 2026 IIMs is cheapest?
- IIM Bodh Gaya, on the official fee PDF re-read 4 October 2026: Rs 17,96,000 for the two years — about Rs 4.8 lakh below Jammu's Rs 22,80,756 and Rs 3 lakh below Sirmaur's Rs 21,00,000. All three figures include hostel; mess runs extra at each (Bodh Gaya collects it as a per-term refundable deposit, Jammu bills actuals, Sirmaur bills as applicable).
- What CAT percentile do the CAP 2026 IIMs need?
- Each prints its own table, and two of them split it by gender. Jammu: General male 91 overall (72 sectionals), female 89 (71). Bodh Gaya's policy reference table: General 95 with 75 sectionals — the policy notes final cut-offs are set after the CAT result, and the January EOI notice ran the actual shortlist lower. Sirmaur: General male 90, female 85 (65 sectionals) — the market's plainest printed gender concession, plus a female-only Supernumerary Admission Process. The shared CAP eligibility line sits at 85 overall with 75 sectionals for the General category.
- How do the three formulas differ in practice?
- Jammu is the profile campus: 28 of 100 final points sit outside CAT and the interview (academics 10, work experience 10, gender diversity 8), so a strong profile survives a weaker CAT rank. Bodh Gaya is the CAT campus: half the final score is the scaled CAT score itself, with academics and work experience sharing just 25. Sirmaur is the work-experience campus: 20 points for experience (peaking at 23-35 months), the heaviest work-ex block of the three, plus 5-point gender and 'Trailblazer' professional-background bonuses.
- Is there a management quota at any CAP 2026 IIM?
- No. All three publish exactly one route — CAT, the CAP minimums, the joint interview, category-wise merit under Government of India reservation — and each campus's printed formula is the whole machine. IIM Sirmaur's female-only SAP is itself a printed, test-based, merit-ranked channel, not a paid seat. Any agent quoting a priced seat at Jammu, Bodh Gaya or Sirmaur is contradicting all three institutes' own documents.
- What did IIM Jammu's latest placement report show?
- The institute's official MBA 2024-26 final placement report, read from its own PDF on 3 October 2026: 260+ recruiting organisations, highest CTC Rs 26.60 lakh, average Rs 16.47 lakh, median Rs 15.00 lakh (top-10% average Rs 22.90 lakh, lowest Rs 9.00 lakh), with NIRF 2025 rank 35. At Rs 22,80,756 total fee, the payback runs about seventeen months of the reported average — the honest arithmetic to weigh against Bodh Gaya's cheaper fee and Sirmaur's profile formula.
