IIM Admission for Women 2026: Every Printed Concession, Mapped

The shortest honest answer to “is there a easier way into an IIM for women?” is: not easier — but cheaper on the percentile, and in writing. Across the 2026-28 admission policies we have opened between 7 and 10 September 2026, eleven IIM campuses publish a gender concession of some kind: a lower printed bar, a block of formula points, or seats reserved over and above the intake. None of it is a quota for sale; all of it is merit-ranked arithmetic that a candidate can plan around.

The two kinds of printed concession

Lower bars, in two columns. IIM Sirmaur’s announced CAP 2026 table prints the General bar at 90 for male and 85 for female candidates on identical 65/65/65 sectionals — and runs the split through every reserved category (EWS 75/70, NC-OBC 75/70, SC 60/55, ST-PwD 38/35). IIM Bodh Gaya prints the same 90/85 structure as Gender-Neutral and Supernumerary Girls columns across all three of its MBAs — the healthcare programme’s SNG bar is 70. IIM Sambalpur prints an 85 overall concession open to every woman applicant (and to men with a year of relevant experience) against its General 90.

The supernumerary layer, spelled out

Supernumerary means over and above the sanctioned seats — created for women, filled by rank, never sold. Two campuses print the mechanism in full. IIM Sirmaur reserves 40 seats through its Supernumerary Admission Process: female applicants only, its own application through the CAP portal, the PI weighted 25, and a hard 60% eligibility floor across Class 10, 12 and graduation. IIM Bodh Gaya’s policy footnote provides that 70% of its 300 seats run gender-neutral, and the remaining 30% become supernumerary girls’ seats when the women’s pool under-fills — “merit as the primary consideration” is printed in the same breath.

How to plan with this, honestly

Read the tables as a routing map. A General-category woman at 85-89 clears the printed Sirmaur and Bodh Gaya gates that a man at the same score does not; at 90-94 the JAP group’s 95.25 stays shut but CAP, Nagpur (95), Udaipur (94) and the solo campuses open; below 85, the printed IIM routes are essentially Shillong’s sectional-only gate and the healthcare programmes. The points campuses reward a different asset: Nagpur’s 10-point block means a strong profile and interview move a woman further there than the same file travels at Rohtak, where CAT is 60% of the list.

One warning, because this exact page of the playbook gets abused: no one can sell you these seats. Every route above is a published rule with a printed bar and a rank list — the girls’ columns and supernumerary seats are affirmative action, not inventory. An agent who packages them as a “female quota seat” for a fee is selling you a merit rule that was already yours.
